When was nas ever a numbers guy or put emphasis on numbers like that?

Just asking, I Might have missed that part of his career.

Nas has never put an emphasis on numbers himself but he’s done big numbers before. Nas downplays it but there was a time when he was outselling Jay-Z, Wu-Tang, Mase, etc during their PRIMES.

Jeezy challenged him in sales in 2006 and Nas outsold him first week

Nas is tied as the rapper with the most top 10 chart placements alongside Jay-Z

Knew you'd be in here. Thoughts on Nas selling out MSG without a hit in 20+ years?

This isn't even worth addressing and I'd hope that Hit Boy chills out. I think it's clear they aren't making music or releasing music in a way to do numbers. They're just...doing dope shyt. And this is a weird argument for Hitmaka considering he's promoting a Jim Jones collab that's about to bomb. Do sales matter for that album or is he gonna say "nah we were just making dope music and weren't thinking about sales" lol. Who cares if Jim Jones bombs in 2023. Who cares if Nas bombs in 2023. But one thing I do know...one of those dudes is a legend who effortlessly sold out MSG and is UP up financially. And the other guy is a bum paying gang members off scraps. You tell me who is winning.
Why wouldn’t he sell out MSG? He has a large fanbase through generations and was once a highly commercially successful artist with music that resonated.

What Hit Maka is saying isn’t incorrect these albums have no influence or impact past Nas core fanbase. There’s nothing wrong with that at this point of his career but it’s the reality.

I don’t even get all the Jim Jones hate in this he was never a high seller but has had a respectable and long career in his own right.

I like when you break down to people that Nas has sold more records than a lot of artist and has more top 10 placements than a lot of artist. You right though, he definitely doesn’t put an emphasis on it. He drops the music and let it do what it does.

hitmaka has a song with john legend x nas x french montana....i guess that shyt isn't coming out

It came out. But the version has Ross on it now instead of Nas. I wonder why Nas took his verse off the song or what happened with that.

Obviously dude in his feelings about hit boy dissing him. I'm not gonna diss the man for thinking like that but he should know better being that he was around DMX and other artists who made impactful work that sold.

Nas has done that all his career and given that he is 30 years in, the younger generation may not check for him as much but he's built a reliable fan base where he can eat forever off his previous work. And the new work is good as well.

I think the argument that you wouldn't play Nas with a girl in the car is stupid. I play whatever the hell I want in the car with my woman or other women I dealt with. Sometimes it's Nas, sometimes other rap, sometimes r&b or whatever I'm feeling at the moment.

And plenty of women be playing Nas and songs of his like deep album cuts. My lady is a super fan of I Am. But to even say that sounds like he needs approval of women or whoever thinks music is catchy.

He can keep making them hits but I'm not sure all his work will be timeless cause he mostly just sampling older songs from his era he was active.

I don't even think it's wrong to say the KD albums have largely just been consumed by some of Nas' hardcore fans. My issue is why the fukk is he making that argument while promoting an album that's about to bomb? I'm not hating on Jim, I'm asking why is it cool for them to drop projects for their fans with no expectations of selling but it's cool to shyt on Nas for it?
