I dunno if its racist...they are expecting more out of him to be rich in his career and not need the people or leverage the people. But then again they are not going after the celeb white folks using the kickstarter, so there might be some bias.

they are going after white people http://www.nbcnews.com/entertainmen...-ire-kickstarter-campaign-new-film-6C10026213

she wasnt being racist, its a totally legit question to ask why celebrities are using kickstarter, it did piss off people, and its normal to presume celebrities have money and connections, she was just being an ass tho, and spike was being an ass for not calmly answering the question

Unless they are going to do a story on how movies are financed in general then it's not a legit question. If someone wants to donate $10 to their favorite director or producer or project why should it matter? Is kickstarter ONLY for non celebrities and people with money? Can rich people with money only donate no matter the project they are trying to pitch.

Unless there are any rules that have been broken its a dumb question. And he still have to pay taxes on all that money as well not to mention the fees that kickstarter make (who are the real winners out of all of this by the way)

Yeah, originally kickstarter is designed for regular people not celebrities, that is why people got mad at Zach Braff, did you not read the link?

How is it not a legit question to ask why celebrities are using a website designed for regular people?

I'm not taking sides , I think both Zach Braff and spike lee gave legit answers

That video makes me so angry. How can you treat one of the most accomplished directors with such disrespect. She wouldn't let him get a sentence out before interrupting him. I understand its just the cable news phenomenon of arguing/controversy = entertainment but it still really bothers me. Especially on a station like Bloomberg where they probably have scumbag CEO's and executives on all the time and worship the ground they walk on by lobbing them softballs for the whole interview let alone treating them like this.

At least the dude treated him with respect but he really should have checked that bytch. She was out of control.

I understand why Spike reacted the way he did but he should have went with a less aggressive tone...it never looks good when a black man is on video being that heated with a white chick.
See I don't have any issue with Spike going to crowd funding for his flicks but I really don't understand why he doesn't work the Hollywood system like the rest of them do...Joss Whedon made Avengers in order to get Much Ado About Nothing funded; Peter Berg did Battleship to get funding to make Lone Survivor. Making Oldboy had to give Spike some cache with the studio to get his personal project funded and if not then that is pretty fukked up.

And the nervous grin plastered on the co-hosts face when Spike first started going off was just priceless>

Idiot "celebrities" are regular people. And the only reason Kickstarter exists was to create a new way for people to have their dreams funded. There are NO RESTRICTIONs on who and who can't use it because it is up to the PEOPLE to fund whatever the fukk they like. Hell if Bill Gates decides he want to use kickstarter to fund some upcoming project, he has every right to solicit for said funds on kickstarter. Its entirely up to the PEOPLE to decide whether or not his project is funded or not. People who claim to have a PROBLEM with spike are likely the same cacs/c00ns that wish to silence anyone that doesn't agree with their point of view. Its vile and disgusting and borderline racist, especially in this case.

Most white people can't stand spike, espcecially after he created so many classic race based films.

I personally don't give a fuk who uses kickstarter, are you responding to me becuase my answer would be the same as before, if you read what I said, I clearly said spikes answer to the question was legitimate, so you don't have to litigate for him with me, I wasn't saying that spike shouldn't use it

but Kickstarter wasnt designed for celebrities it was designed for regular people, that's just a fact, so it's a legit question to ask why celebrities are using it and the question has come up before http://m.nbcnews.com/entertainment/...-ire-kickstarter-campaign-new-film-6C10026213

And I think the answers given are also legit

So I was saying it's a legit question and a legit answer once you leave out the hysterics

Spike is absolutely correct, his studio films are different from an independent film that doesn't have the pressure to have to make a big opening box office day and usually doesn't have expensive A list actors and he has every right to use Kickstarter for those projects because he is giving new people opportunities. Spike Lee is good people he read my friends script and analyzed it for him...i'd go to war for Spike

However he just came off bad because that poor woman is just reading off the teleprompter so he definitely could have articulated this without coming off bitter and angry because she has no idea how the industry works and is just given these points by her producer and was told to follow a guideline for how the type of questions asked on the interview and its a legit question to ask and Spike can easily ease concerns and explain why he is on it and that he isn't taking opportunities from others.

To be fair that is Regans shtick, I used to watch her on Bloomberg all the time and I would often be turned off by how blunt and condescending she was. She acts like an a$$hole to Hedge Fund managers, CEO's, etc all the damn time, which would be somewhat excusable if she obtained new information as a result of acting that way. Which is unfortunate because the rest of the anchors at Bloomberg are on point and don't come off as a$$holes even when being confrontational.
