It’s cause of the perception we all have of them. At the highest levels they play infront of huge crowds and are media darlings but, the thing is, all they really do is PLAY and work out. For the most part they don’t really have an actual job and what they get paid for is frankly not that important to society as entertainment. Sports and/or fitness imo is necessary for humanity but the mass consumerism of it really doesn’t move the needle in society, thus, they’re basically regular ass people who are adept at using their bodies but are mentally just the same as most people if not worse.

If there was no money in sports most of those guys would probably have a general 9-5 and wouldn’t be able to make what they make doing something else (which isn’t a bad thing at all)
