THAT'S A GOOD IDEA, BROTHER! THAT'S RAISING THE MATURITY LEVEL, DUDE!

IF THERE IS A MOD, THEY SHOULD PROBABLY MERGE ALL THE DUMBASS CONSPIRACY THEORY AND JUST PLAIN OLD BULLshyt THREADS INTO ONE SO THOSE PEOPLE HAVE A SPOT TO INTELLECTUALLY MASTURBATE OVER THEIR FAVORITE INSANE IDEAS, BUT THE REST OF THE BOARD IS OPEN FOR MORE REASONABLE TOPICS, BROTHER!

That could be a little touchy though, I could see people getting mad if you merged unrelated conspiracy theory threads even if all of them are ridiculous.

Maybe we could have a "conspiracy theory" or "outside the mainstream" subforum that threads like that could be moved to. That way they wouldn't be stinking up the main forum, but at the same time the threads would still exist so the thread creators wouldn't have anything to complain about. And those of us not interested could just avoid that forum.

I think similar conspiracy type threads should be merged, but don't merge them all.

I dont think it would work because these dudes really believe this stuff. Its like having a sub-forum named "wack hip hop". Whos going to post there? Also I think its important these topics are posted where they can be vetted. I dont want people thinking there insular sub-forum is a place there ideas are free from criticism.

Let's be realistic for a second. There are only 3 people on KTL that didn't have beef or argue all the time with someone. Brown Pride, TheReal and me (Non-Chalant1). I don't think BP's here, but he'd have my vote and I just told the TheReal today on that other site that someone on here nominated him. I'll never get how people can nominate people for mods that have clear beef on here with others, but even if they could be objective, would you want them to be? You lose something as far as comedy goes if you make VVD a mod. He loses half his steez while playing impartial to what is sometimes stupidity. That goes for anyone who consistently posts on here to the point of being readily identifiable as one of a certain persuasion.

With that said, we need to work on building this site back up. One thing I thought about was having different topics up like: college planning, a dropbox for outlines, etc.

TWISM (I think) also had that really good post about online classes from universities. Or links to lectures, etc.

I think this forum should be transitioned into a place where you would ask any questions relating to education, careers, world news and politics.

:obama:

I think this is the direction that we should be going with Higher Learning. I would love to see a wider variety of topics in this forum. Adding some fresh discussion about college/careers is a great start. Higher Learning shouldn't try to define itself and box itself into a corner. It should be a forum where anyone who's legitimately interested in holding a mature conversation and genuinely trying to educate themselves should feel comfortable posting in.

I think BarNone would be a good mod for this forum but I think its only right to have co-mods for this forum. Having 2 mods who make decisions together would be a lot more appropriate for a forum of this nature. So who else could we add to form a good team?

THEREAL32, ASSUMING HE CAME OVER HERE, BROTHER!

I'd have some recommendations (TheReal32, NZA maybe) but I'm not sure who's over here from KTL. I'd be willing to if anybody wants tho, I work in tech support so I'm on a lot.

Thanks for the shoutouts. I am here, just haven't posted much yet. I do check the site regularly, though.

real32 is too intellectually dishonest.

give it to newworldafro.

I have pride breh. I was in the Marine Corps, and I got out. Brother 88 was joking.

I sure as fukk wouldn't re-enlist in anything but the Corps. I have a penis and testicles.

It's not about the branch, it's about the job. Assuming I was in the air force and my job was EOD or Combat Control, that would be as tough as what any marine does. And lets not pretend they don't have any paper pushers.

In the Silver Lining
KTL was able to take a smorgasbord of topics and remain healthy....whether it was mainstream news, alternative viewpoints, educating one self in this or that subject (free university courses, etc)......why would yall want to break that up??? :what:.....its all knowledge and learning........hell I got tired of seeing all the posts on religion every 20 seconds, and I expressed it....but I wouldn't conceal, merge, or push to the side every thread topic on different aspects of religion b/se I felt it was too overwhelming.......thats ridiculous.

Conspiracy theory is just an alternative veiwpoint from the popular perspective......sometimes its quite accurate, factual, and proveable, folks just refuse to consider it or will ostracize the POV, b/se of what it means when they face the fact that it does hold water........................sometimes, a conspiracy theory is an alternative viewpoint, thats difficult one way or another to prove at all..............have no issues with the "CTs thread" thats up here.....but they are so broad and diverse, why would yall want to just put everything in there or in a subforum?????

If its a major news story, I understand when there are 3 - 4 threads on the same news story by different posters, then maybe that is perfect time to merge things.....

Lets respect our 1st Amendment, or whats left of it......and let people express themselves.........there plenty of room for all various forms of knowledge acquisition, dialogue, and debate in this Higher Learning forum.......Bar None's idea was good, but "Sticky" is the action word here, just put it at the top of the forum page for a topic like that.....you don't have to discredit or separate other arenas of knowledge, just to get another topic popular.

If anything, there needs to be a campaign to encourage other posters to come in here and post that usually skip over the KTL/Higher Learning forums........I would say make a thread in those other popular forums asking "Why They Don't Post in the Higher Learning Forum?"....
