I was just thinking before you typed this that maybe we should give it a rest for a week after the poor participation in the last one. Give it a week off and plan for next Sunday the 22nd. Keep the thread upped and let the buzz build and give time for more major news stories to develop. Hopefully some of these disinterested fukks here can prepare themselves and join the panel or call-in then.

Btw, why is episode 3 still not on the Coli blog page under podcasts or on the sidebar???

I can record too but HH4E is a good moderator so we'd need someone to handle that role

As for the future and HH4E's bandwidth issues, I think the livestream is not really that important but I think it would be good if we had faster turnaround for the audio file.. I'm still unclear about why that takes so long

we need to discuss more philosophy and abstract stuff like this. the current events are cool but we need more diversity in the kind of topics we discuss.

and why are we taking a week off, because of the low turn out for last weeks show? there was a low turn out because we always wait til last minute to announce the time of the show and the topics, and then once the show starts we stay with some technical difficulties (no sub). and im not saying its anyones fault because we're all in this together, but what i am saying is we need to get OUR shyt together and do everything WE can on our end to be successful, and we're not doing that.

we should have a consistent time for the show week in, week out. if the time has to change weekly for one reason or another thats fine, but then we should have all of the show logistics finalized and in the thread title by wednesday at the latest so people know whats going on and when to catch the show.

bottom line is we, meaning the participants, the host, the forum mod, EVERYBODY, gotta get more organized, get more consistent with the communication, and basically get our shyt together. we dont have one person managing so that means we all have to be accountable and manage ourselves. so i dont think time off is what we need, i think we need better communication and more effort on our part.

but since once again its friday, and we have no time established, no topics, and no participants if yall wanna cancel and regroup next week lets do that... but after this weekend lets really make a commitment to get our shyt together.

edit: and we need to get into some religious debates soon too... thats obviously a hot topic

It needs to be bi-weekly or monthly IMO. It needs to establish a firm base first. It should be about 2 hours long and split up into sections, that way people who are interested to only one topic has a choice to listen to that one topic.

Well the two most popular threads on the first page of Higher Learning are Obama no-showing the NAACP convention and the calls to destroy the pyramids. So while I understand a desire to get deeper in the weeds with philosophical debates, I don't think that is the best way for the podcast to gain any traction with listeners.

Do we have free will? What are we in intro to philosophy again? Nobody wants to hear us talk about that. They could just read the thoughts of Thomas Aquinas, John Locke, etc. for that.

and I could read any of your threads or posts by going to and reading Media Matters and HuffingtonPost.
