There is no way Maxwell would have been able to resist Fran for that long. In fact, if he was still married, he’d probably have an affair. I can see him not wanting to wife right away, because they are from two different classes, and she was annoying, but they would have ended up in bed within the first year in a real life scenario of attractive nanny, and wealthy father.
