Marvel lifted the spoiler ban for Endgame so I’m not gonna use a spoiler tag. Spoiler alert for Endgame if you haven’t seen it yet.
I liked Endgame and we knew they were gonna undo the snap, but they changed the rules of time travel to make it so you can’t change your past (but then they broke that rule with Captain America’s ending but that’s another topic).
Instead, they brought back half the population, billions of people, to the present day after five years. Five years. That’s a long time! People moved on and formed new relationships, there’s a new social order, it’s a whole different world that has adjusted permanently in some ways and suddenly billions of people drop back in on it. Can you imagine how much chaos that would bring?
Sure there would be some positive reunions but millions, if not billions, of people would have moved on with their lives. The entire world made lasting changes on the assumption that those people were gone forever. New government officials, new laws, everyone still alive aged five years, you can’t just undo that and go back to before. Most of the vanished probably don’t even have any possessions/money left after so long so they’re about to start their whole lives over. What happened with social security? Grocery stores and food producers adjusted to lower demands worldwide and suddenly billions of people need to eat. Yikes.
Speaking of possessions, how in the world did Hawkeye’s wife call my dude right away? I know it was meant to be an emotional scene and I liked it but you’re telling me he’s been paying that phone bill for five years while chopping up yakuza gangsters and saying he’s lost all hope??? Actually he seems like the type of guy who had an automatic monthly payment so I can see that.
