I just watched an entire episode of Brooklyn Nine Nine yesterday.
The show is based on a group of police detectives and their boss is the captain, who is a major character of the show. It's not common log, but in real life, the gap between detectives and captain is pretty big. The detectives' immediate supervisor would be a sergeant. And then, their next supervisor in the chain of command would be a lieutenant. No way would they be making as much contact with a captain in real life as they do in a show.

Tackleberry's warning shots at civilians, Hightower's bullying, Zed spraying up ish, Mahoney's sexual harassment and hella property damage...How are they still cops? Callahan and Hooks like the only 2 without numerous violations.
