How were they able to acquire someone from Real Madrid? Aren't they one of the richest teams in soccer? Wouldn't they want to be better than Man City when it comes time for the Champions League? It was that big of an offer that they couldn't refuse?

Real Madrid were trying to sell Robinho and he was going to Chelsea until they balked at the price. City didnt balk and paid Madrid $60 million for him, and then gave Robinho an $11 million a year contract.

It makes sense to sell players if you feel that is the peak of their value. Its just like any other capitalist entity.

Madrid, or any other club, takes that money and invests in a player they feel has a lot more value than the player they sold. Or a player that will have more value.

The sheikhs also made Manchester nice and all that. Made it actually livable like Dubai. Have you been to 'Manchester' on google images? Nicest things there are the football grounds.

It's like giving the Clippers new ownership that offers the GM a blank check
To be truthful the Clippers owner, Donald Sterling, is a billionaire. I doubt he's fukkin' with that Arab money at Man City but he's no slouch at all

-but hey if its Man City's turn.. they won over ManU.. Maybe its our turn rising above the Lakers:manny:

in terms of spending power, i would put Man City as #1 right now in the world, nobody can compete with them including R. Madrid

Real Madrid are in soo much debt

since buying Man city in 2008 the owners have invested $1.6 billion dollars in the team....no American team can compete.....

with all that money city is only the fifth highest earner in the English premier league..most clubs are heavily in debt and players are paid crazy money....salaries plus a win bonus appearance bonus, image rights, they get 10% of transfer fees...etc

If i can remember correctly in England Arsenal is the only team among the top 15 that has turned a profit in the past 3 years

Soccer is different the fans are way too passionate which is why you couldnt relocate a team without loosing 95% of the fan base

In terms of money real and barca can't compete but players will always prefer the likes of real, barca and milan over man city because of history and tradition.

NEW ERA
Seems like City's win is peaking interest. A bit

That's good for the sport I guess. I just hope we don't don't have a new wave of City fans :snoop:

In fact, I guarantee we'll have a new wave of City fans. Over the years, I've never seen and met so many Chelsea fans. 90% of the soccer fans I meet nowadays are Smellsea fans. Jesus....:snoop:

In terms of rich history and tradition, yes, but that doesn't mean Man City are going to just sit back and relax when they have a chance to sign top players, i also don't think the likes of Neymar would choose Man City but when we go back and look at recent history, Robinho who was regarded as a TOP PLAYER 4 years ago, opened up the gates for Silva, Y. Toure, Balo, Aguero etc. They had to start somewhere....

:sadbron:Man United:sadbron:

its sad times
