because fundamentally there isnt a team in similar situation in the US
soccer teams are inherently dependent on their owners $.
in the us even in sports that have no salary cap there is an attempt for parity through draft.
this isnt the case in soccer, where a rich team with a big name will ALWAYS poach the poorer team's talents.
the only way for a poor team that isnt world famous to compete is to be extremely lucky by having a great coach and great team at the same time or...get an owner that is rick as fukk
so naturally once the big $ was spent on Man Citys transfers, they got bunch of world class players. they barely won this year tho.
