Henry Cavill as Superman might be the biggest waste of potential in comic book movie history

Man of Steel is still by far the best DCEU movie and its not even close. There’s some magic lost between the first superman movie and justice league (the snydercut was good though) and to end up with aqua man and black lightning? Jeez

The fukked up part is if you watch man of steel, you can tell the original plan was for it to be it's own universe. There was nothing in the film that suggested it was going to be this huge cinematic universe. Yea I know there was a Bruce Wayne enterprises easter egg but that's all it was, an easter egg.
The rumors at the time was the next film was going to have lex as the villian. Nothing about batman or justice league. But here's the thing, man of steel was filmed in like 2011. This was before the avengers came out. Fast forward to 2013 when man of steel is released, avengers had already been out for a year and made a shytload of money. You can tell wb saw all that money marvel made and switched gears. You can not tell me having batman facing off with superman in the next film, was the original plan from the beginning. Nothing in man of steel alluded to that

Dudes constantly ride for Cavill because they find him attractive and because he's a fellow nerd. He's not a particularly good actor and has zero charisma. IMO the studios keep fukking up Superman because they're more interesting in replicating Christopher Reeves' looks instead of his acting/demeanor. Superman is supposed to be part charismatic hero, part Mr. Rogers, part god, part friend. Snyder was overly interested in the god part and nailed that but flopped with everything else.

Now they've given the reins to a writer who only cares about the charismatic hero part, so expect lots of cool shyt, zingers, and one liners in a bad movie.

I thought this was a realistic portrayal of how he'd be.

and he was beginning to "lighten up" into the more anti-Bruce version of Clark as the universe progressed.

But yeah, MoS is a top 10 comic movie to me as goes the Snyder Version Of Justice League.

Dude had zero chemistry and the script were by people that were only interested in the Frank Miller/Superman half.

unarguable tbh. more of a testament to how underrated Garfield was rather than an indictment on Cavill

This is a performance, two characters brought to life. You can't really tell the difference between Superman and Clark in MoS or BvS.

Brooding Superman is a no from me, the character is supposed to be a goody 2 shoes boy scout. Snyder missed the mark with the characters portrayal and wasted cavil. Also Ami Adams as Louis did not work for me visually.

Cavill only looked the part but had the charisma of a sloth. Maybe in the hands of a better director. He would’ve reached his full potential. RDJ had the charisma, look, and acting ability to pull off Tony Stark. Cavill was a wooden plank with a cape lol. Evans Cap is the blueprint for a modern day Superman.
