Bruh, that Superman is essentially the John Byrne Superman that was made after Crisis on Infinite Earths. The Superman I grew up reading in the early 90s. Man of Steel was part one of a character arc to get him to where we saw him at the end of Justice League.

Lmao what? Pa Kent immediately told Superman to stay hidden and not use his powers to save those in need, even letting himself be killed. “Don’t save those kids about to drown on the bus, Clark.”

How many bank robberies or mugging did Superman stop? When was Superman throwing enemies through populated towns without getting an idea of the civilians in the vicinity?

Superman stopped a couple of natural disasters but barely tried to connect with civilians, he barely showed any humanity to ANYONE that wasn’t Loos Lane, and he barely interacted with regular people in a Superman-Esque-manner. His turn in Justice League barely made sense and how he was viewed barely mattered. Superman was a dikk, not a likable iconic hero.

You trying to compare a day one rookie to a veteran. He was learning himself in Man of Steel.
Jonathan Kent was just trying to protect his son from being exploited and ostracized as well as keeping the world from mass hysteria with the presence of a Christ like figure. They as parents wanted their son to live a normal life.

Jonathan Kent stated that he wasn't sure what the right answer was because he knows what could happen but he also feels that Clark was brought to them for a reason and Clark would learn that reason when the time presented itself.

A no kill rule was made after he killed Zod and the other two in John Byrne's last issue of Superman in the late 80s

What did I say that was wrong? Man of Steel is an awful Superman movie. It tries to be an origin story but it expects you to have an intimate understanding of the Superman character but this character is nothing like Superman.

Stupid plot conveniences, dumb action with little to no stakes, it tries to be deep and talk about “If Superman was real” but has no actual commentary to offer on the subject, etc.

The people who tend to like Man of Steel are people who know nothing about Superman and think fight scenes make a good movie.

i dont give a fukk about superman, always been a corny ass cac comic to me and all the old 70s superman movies are corny also

MoS was great because it updated his image to modern times, gave superman some depth and edge instead of being a goodie too shoes
General Zod was a goat villain performance and oscar worthy, russell crowe in the first 10 minutes

How we got to this point with arguably the greatest comic characters EVER will be a thesis on what not to do.

Please just make Aquaman and WW2 and Shazam! the beginning and forget everything else happened.

MOS and TDK trilogy still better than any marvel movie by a mile

TDK is a classic, possibly the greatest superhero film ever made but let’s be easy here

Batman Begins is barely a superhero movie

Rises is pure hot garbage

Exactly and maybe that’s the problem with the DC movies. When all you can say or always rest your laurels on is “the TDK is great” that in itself is a mayor red flag and problem that too many constantly ignore.

Cuz the problem is for the DC line, no movie they made SINCE THEN (which was back in 2008 or TEN YEARS AGO) has been that great or close.

They showed absolutely NO improvements, they peaked in 2008 then regressed badly.

In comparison to other side, you can’t sit here today and make a solid case that IM is the best Marvel movie and it’s better than A3, Cap 2 & 3, BP and many others.

Hell even looking at other franchises, Logan was a dramatic improvement from Wolverine

And even going to other franchises like the Fast series, the Bourne series, MI series and etc, the latter movies most cases are better than the previous.

And that’s how it should be
