But ultimately, all you are is just a bunch of spinning atoms. You really dont know whats going on when you go to sleep. Scientists and psychologists cant explain dreaming and neither can you. When you return to a pure atomic state, maybe ull find those answers.
Psychologists know a lot about sleeping and dreaming. The leading theory is that it has to do with organizing, imprinting and or discarding memories. Which makes sense if you've been lucid in the dream world a lot. It's not like dreaming is a uniquely human trait. My sisters dog dreams all the time.

There are people who take DMT everyday who experience MANY different things, including some of what this man described.

So is DMT a gateway to heaven, or the most likely scenario: the human brain is capable of imagining some beautiful (and sometimes dark) things?

I think we all know the answer.

quick question: We are reading an article discussing the experiences of a Harvard Neuroscientist. Your gonna explain to him what he saw and how it could have been induced by something other than what he said?

I am nothing close to a Neuroscientist.... are you? (no disrespect intended)

Lucid dreaming blows my mind everytime I do it, especially because I'm on some inception level shyt. I can make objects appear and disappear, make people appear and disappear and basically do whatever I want. I fly around all the time like superman, I could go to "heaven" if I really wanted to. I've flew from the Earth to the Moon one time, I tried landing on jupiter but my brain couldn't process what landing on its surface would be like (even tho it has no surface) so it turned into a super mario galaxy planet :heh: I've had dreams where I died and came back as a ghost to see how life was without me. I've had some crazy crazy times.

How do you know Jupiter has no surface???? (lol)

wasn't there another neurosurgeon who showed no brain activity and any illusions would have been impossible yet he still had a near death experience and then became a believer himself...this might be the same guy

he had the brainscans to prove it while he was dead

interesting, Wish you had a link

I've been trying to do that shyt for a long time now but whenever I go to sleep it's usually black and then I wake up. :scusthov:

And when I do remember a dream it's about me doing normal shyt like going to work, talking to somebody I know or any other regular shyt I do that when I wake up I have a this weird deja vu feeling for the day. :dwillhuh:

The Rich Man and Lazarus

19 “There was a rich man who was dressed in purple and fine linen and lived in luxury every day. 20 At his gate was laid a beggar named Lazarus, covered with sores 21 and longing to eat what fell from the rich man’s table. Even the dogs came and licked his sores.

22 “The time came when the beggar died and the angels carried him to Abraham’s side. The rich man also died and was buried. 23 In Hades, where he was in torment, he looked up and saw Abraham far away, with Lazarus by his side. 24 So he called to him, ‘Father Abraham, have pity on me and send Lazarus to dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue, because I am in agony in this fire.’

25 “But Abraham replied, ‘Son, remember that in your lifetime you received your good things, while Lazarus received bad things, but now he is comforted here and you are in agony. 26 And besides all this, between us and you a great chasm has been set in place, so that those who want to go from here to you cannot, nor can anyone cross over from there to us.’

27 “He answered, ‘Then I beg you, father, send Lazarus to my family, 28 for I have five brothers. Let him warn them, so that they will not also come to this place of torment.’

29 “Abraham replied, ‘They have Moses and the Prophets; let them listen to them.’

30 “‘No, father Abraham,’ he said, ‘but if someone from the dead goes to them, they will repent.’

31 “He said to him, ‘If they do not listen to Moses and the Prophets, they will not be convinced even if someone rises from the dead.’”

We can do that because he specifically said current science can't explain it, which also means that he himself has not used science to arrive at his faith-based conclusion. Besides, the "god of the gaps" argument is ancient, and logic is universal- a fallacy like this one can be recognized no matter who makes the mistake.

Im starting to think logic is subjective, especially on this board.

Science doesnt explain everything. Not saying God is in the gaps, but I dont think he was either. He knows what he saw, he just cant tell you scientifically how he saw it. He did not come across something he could not figure out and call it god. He claims to have gone to god and cant figure out how he got there. There is a difference.

Not even saying I believe him... Just not dismissing it as drugs or ignorance. What makes this story so interesting to me is the fact he is so trianed on the brain and its functionality. You cant dismisss his opinion so easily, because you are in fact the ignorant one in this conversation. ((which his publishers are probably banking on))

the original point TUH was making, is that anybody who has a near death experiences/trips out on some shyt, can and does have these same images

the mind is an amazing vehicle....that man can say he went to heaven all he wants, but I know from my personal "I'm in heaven" experience, he's lying

and I can say that without being a neurosurgeon lol

And the theory before that revolved around that clown Freud thinking it had to do with your subconcious mind, which has since been disgarded as Trash. Its all guessing, they really dont know, friend.

It's simple. The brain activity is too low to be detected by the technology we currently have. We already know for a fact that brain activity can be present at low enough levels to be undetectable by our current instruments. A person's EEG can be flat, but that doesn't mean there are no neurons firing, etc. In other words, you lost. Try again.

How do you detect something thats undetectable. :heh: Did you read what you wrote or did you just skim through it, friend?

you don't go to heaven when you die so even biblically this is...silly or "unexplained" at best.

We don't get into heaven until after the final judgment...so ...yeah....

I was thinking about that. dude is basically saying he 'cheated' God and the afterlife. I mean it's called the "afterlife" and he's still alive
