I imagine that's why True Blood got so many seasons as well, cheap as hell.
About that 95M number for David's Utopia. Thought you just pulled it outta no where, but you right. HBO was willing to go up to 95M for it. One article even said 100M was the lowest David would go, which I took to mean he wanted more than 100M for it at some point.
At that point I would have to assume David just tried to get one over on the folks at HBO. Most those other shows you can see where the money would go sets for the era etc. But Utopia, man lol.
Can't find the article because it was quite a while ago but the number I remember Fincher wanting was 115M
As for True Blood, I've never seen it and it may have been cheaper than some of the bigger dramas but it was also legitimately a hit. A lot of people watched that show. Definitely more than Girls.
