Replying to myself...

You know, I always used to see those Westchester County Fair commercials, but until I rewatched them I never ever realized that they took place at Yonkers Raceway.
For those who don't know, that place is practically in the Bronx. :ohhh:

The commercials always gave me the impression that it took place on some farmland upstate.
Yonkers raceway is definitely not the Bronx bruv

I just remembered Coney Island had commercials back in the day too. :ohlawd:

ASTRO.....ASTRO..... ASTROLAND PARK!

And them Raceway Park commercials with the weird chipmunk voice.

In my "Tourist" Days in the 90s there was something about the Rides at Astroland made me hit the :hubie:when I saw it....I just stuck to the Arcade and the Beach when I was in CI

:mjlol: I'm definitely about to watch this shyt now
You have to :laff::laff:
It starts off with fukkery. They test the loop water slide with literal crash test dummies as part of their engineering practice run and the “dolls” come out the other end of the slide with their heads cut off, cut off limbs. They still let the ride open -
:deadmanny:
The rock is named as a “defendant“ in the lawsuit. Not “The Rock” but A ROCK that is found on the ground.

They built a race track Ride across the street from a major highway and people were using them as bumper cars or driving the amusement park cars off the race track and onto the regular highway.

Watched this last night.

The park itself was the stuff of an insane man's dreams. Owned by a mob guy who let a bunch of teenagers run the place like Rufio and the Lost Boys taking control of Never Never Land .:dead:

They let them rock for damn near 2 decades when people were getting all the way fukked up or dying :picard:

The parallels between the theme park and the idea of America as a country are both :ohhh: and :wow:though

one dude was in a ball rolling down a PVC track and the track broke and he rolled down the hill and across the expressway into a swamp :laff:

cats loosing teeth from the looping waterslide :dahell:

everyone is drunk and they selling beer to minors in the park :damn:

:deadmanny:

I said "Practically". Its like 1.3 miles from the City Line.

My point is, watching the commercials as a kid I always thought this "Westchester County Fair" took play on some farm way out in the middle of nowhere.
When I watch the SAME commercial now, I'm like "That's where that Empire City Casino is! I've been there :flabbynsick:"

just watched this yesterday. that shyt sounds insane. and if I were younger, I'd probably say "man I wish I could've gone there" but as an adult? :patrice:

I loved the talking head interviews because clearly these people were there as workers or customers and the doc let them walk the line in terms of opinion. Homie who said he's glad he got to grow up in that era but he's also kinda upset he got to grow up in that era. I think that's a great way to look at the nostalgia for that era; yes there was freedom and a lot of choice and parents kinda let their kids run wild, but fukk lol should kids be allowed to run wild? Should a parent allow their kid to keep going to a park after multiple people are killed?

That shyt can never be done again and that's perfectly fine. Every thing has a season.

Beware the torrent it looks like an industry plant upon file observations
how can you tell? serious question

Back in like 2001 i hit some alpine slides with my family and my little sister rode down on my dad's lap. He always hauled ass, this time they flew off the track. She was super shook and had some scrapes and bruises. You can tell they're sketch as fukk when you go down them, makes me wonder if it's still around.
