Being one of the best on the roster does NOT = being Austin/Rock status, though. It also doesn't equal their consistent popularity with fans. You gotta have that 'it' factor, that thing that makes people care about you regardless of how you're being booked. He doesn't have it...and that's what his stans don't seem to understand.

I remember R=G used to use the phrase "mediocrity has become acceptable". Even though I wouldn't call Punk mediocre based on his actual wrestling skills, I still think it fits here because dudes were (and still are) overrating the fukk outta him and acting like Punk was gonna have a Hogan/Austin/Rock type run, just because the fans cheered for him (y'know, kinda like how they usually cheer for Santino). Punk was never THAT over. The only time he ever got serious pops was in his hometown, and the few months after that worked shoot (and his return). Without a good storyline behind him, dude is 'meh' status.
So again, you guys claim Punk's a bust. We hit you with the :childplease: and all you can come up with is that he's not as good as D.Bryan, who is the consensus most-loved guy at the moment, and he's also not as successful as the most successful pro wrestlers of all time.

:rudy:

Punk's not Austin/Rock status. No one on the roster is even capable of being Austin/Rock status, btw, because the format of the current WWE would not allow it. That's getting a bit off topic though. The point is, Austin and Rock are not on your TV screen every week. When the rest of the roster consists of a bunch of bums that Punk is better than, I don't see how you can be mad at HIM. Be mad at the fact that the WWE is wack.

It's been alright, not great but the title has been presented as less important than whatever Cena is currently up to, the only time they book the champion like he means something is when it's him.

And again, this is why business will continue to be down. They don't know what they're doing.

Even more than the fact that Punk is obviously better than Cena, it's NEVER a good move to devalue your company's titles. And all the belts in the WWE have never meant less than they do now. That's the result of shytty booking and people in charge being clueless. If you're trying to put that on the champs themselves holding the titles, you don't understand much about anything.

So what's the final consensus on Punk? Is he a great talent that was sabotaged by that ridiculous feud with Trips? Or is he just an above average wrestler who caught fire for a few months and went back to his proper place?

the latter. his not that good of a wrestler. I've not seen anything thing he's done all year in the ring that makes me go, WOW. He's not athletic, basic moves, sloppy a lot of time, botches GTS, botches elbow from the top. Oh, but I guess he's a good storyteller huh? Wow, the psychology .

And his mic kills is completely overrated. Yeah, he's a great talker, that's where it stops. Doesn't mean he can cut great promos. He doesn't have crowd control, He doesn't say anything that makes you remember. He basically cuts a promo like he's speaking casually to one of his buddies. He's not funny. And when he tries to be serious, his acting is literally 80s sitcom status. All throughout his feud with Jericho he's been getting verbally abuse by someone superior.

Cena has more 5 * matches. He's had top quality with almost everyone besides The Miz and The Great Khali. Anyways, this is all subjective, so there's really no point going back and fourth. You being numb to mediocrity isn't my fault, so you KIM.

btw, I forgot to put Orton as another person who puts on better matches than Cook. So that's 10.

John Cena can't even throw a punch right and you're talking about him having anything close to a 5 star match? shyt, Rey Mysterio only has one 5 star match. Cena hasn't had anything close except for the RVD and maybe the Punk match even though they both botched too much for that to be a reality. The storyline was 5 stars but the match? Nah...
