This isn’t true . I remember times in the playoffs where they looked much better with Whiteside on the floor
and the 8 games they went 6-2 in at the bubble before the playoffs? Overall in that 12 game sample size they clearly looked better with Nurkic, I don’t know how that’s up for debate. And Nurkic hadnt played in over a year at that point

Body language + media narrative really hurting breh
How is someone who is basically a lock to average 12 rebounds and 1.5+ blocks lazy
Is he more lazy than Joel Embiid? KA Towns? More lazy than Jokic coming out on a switch? :russ:
If you watch them dudes you know they all "conserve energy", either defensively or overall. cmon now, ppl just don't like Whiteside and the aloof narrative is easy to ride with

This is a guy that doesn’t watch basketball outside of box scores.

It has nothing to do with conserving energy. Whiteside will switch onto a PF with three point range, watch him go to the corner to spot up, and still stay glued near the paint so he can try to grab a block or rebound. He does this by DEFAULT so great teams with good playmakers will exploit this.

He will chase blocks instead of playing good defense. I’ve seen Whiteside jump to get a block in situations where he doesn’t need to, just because the shot goes up, and it’ll turn into Easy offensive rebounds because he stopped boxing out a big to chase an entirely unneeded block.

He doesn’t know how to defend in space. He lacks lateral quickness and bad footwork outside the paint. When his man sets a screen, he refuses to show consistently and leaves the smaller guard (Dragic, Lillian’s, McCollum) stuck trying to fight over the screen which will allow for open threes. He always sinks to cut off the paint and will give up open mid-range shots over and over. He gets attacked like this so consistently that it makes hard to go on real runs with him in the game especially against good teams.

Whiteside doesn’t have a game that translates to playoff success.

:mjlol: Bro, how buried on the bench do you want Rob Will to be?

I know :mjlol::francis:. My fear is that Brad Stevens doesn't like playing him for some reason. I rather they play him over Thies

Depends what Celtics wanna do this season. If they wanna rely on the Youth, I say give Time Lord the minutes
But if they in a win now mode, then :yeshrug:

Full circle for Whiteside. Just one year though for a guy who put up 15, 13 an 3 last year?

With his talent and the fact that he puts up the numbers he does with no motivation i just imagine what he could do if he played like he did those first couple of years in Miami. In retrospect we know that he was playing for a contract the whole time but could be dominant at times on the defensive end. He should have been contending yearly for the DPOY award but he's content with just getting his numbers as we know.
