Riley was devastated by Bosh’s career abruptly coming to an end and wasnt trying to lose another key big man in the same season. He was well aware of the red flags that came with Whiteside but threw caution to the wind.

I mean that first year with the Heat he earned that contract. I remember a game against the bulls where he was looking like prime Wilt. It was amazing. Then you continue to watch him throughout the years and watch his laziness, low effort, and bad impact on his team

His first year with the Heat he was playing like a man possessed. He was getting triple doubles with blocks and erasing everything in the lane. Dude was on a mission to prove he belonged in the league. Then he started feeding into his own hype and believing he was a franchise center who deserved a ton of touches on offense, and he’d sulk and pout on the bench whenever he got pulled. We should’ve known his ego was getting bigger by the way he’d be on Twitter begging Ronnie to update his 2k ratings

Whiteside led the league in blocks last season and was a top 3 rebounder. As a hooper myself I can tell you that takes some effort.

When we say lazy, it’s about how he does everything that DOESN’T show up in the box score.

Whiteside will get a block but he won’t show when defending the pick and roll before recovering back to protect the rim. He’ll just immediately sink to the paint.

Whiteside will get a block, in the box score, but you won’t see all the easy buckets he gives up because he falls for every pump fake which puts him out of position to get rebounds or do proper rotations.

Whiteside is a good individual rebounder. His issue is that he will forego good defense for those rebounds. It’s something you really notice when Whiteside plays against really good playmakers or passing teams.

You just have to watch him play, consistently. His decision making at NBA speeds is just slow and makes him seem robotic on the court.

The Kings giving whiteside another chance is such a Kings move lmao

That front office needs to be gutted, and the owner stripped of his ownership for how badly he treats that team

this will forever get a laugh out of me :mjlol:

S-stauskas :laff:

Yeah this will never get tiring. Vivek wanted to implement a strategy he saw in kids basketball league, when a team owner is so out of touch with reality, nothing good comes out of their team.

Emptiest numbers in the history of the game. All these GM’s care about nowadays are advanced numbers for bigs....and Whiteside dont have that. nikka’s career really bout to do a full circle...he going out the way he came in:wow:

His advanced stats are good.
Whiteside finished the season with a 125 offensive rating and 107 defensive rating. Those are shockingly good numbers. He also managed to post 5.6 offensive win-shares and 3.0 offensive win-shares for a staggering 8.5 total win-shares which ranked 12 in in the NBA.

His per was 25.07 11th in the nba.

Yet he was forced to sign a 1 year vet min contract for one of the worst franchises in the NBA.... speaks volumes
