Has there been any movies that were supposed to be TRASH but ended up being a classic?

Moonwalker has value, but I don't know if I'd call it any kind of classic.

I would say Speed. When I saw the ads, I thought it would be trash, and reading about it later on, everyone involved thought it would be trash, even the actors. Then it was released, and ended up the biggest movie of the summer.

Moonwalker is a classic because Michael Jackson INVENTED the long form music video in its current incarnation with Moonwalker. Nothing like it ever existed before and it paced the way for all the story driven music films after it.

Smooth Criminal by itself is a classic.

I hate to be difficult but...Moonwalker is an anthology! It didn't have a story!

Like, The Wall did the same thing seven years earlier, only with a (rudimentary) plot. It even had animation!

Smooth Criminal was great, I'll give you that.

When I say “story” i meant the Smooth Criminal portion. That had a plot.

I skipped past page one so this may be listed but Half Baked is tops on my list.
That move looked so ducking awful lmao. Saw it in the theatre with some homies and forgot most of it.

Friend bought it on DVD when it came out and I laughed more. Watched it again and fukking died laughing. Put that shyt on today and I’ll laugh the whole time.

Raid redemption ripoff
False. Dredd was actually written first.
Because The Raid was released first many people immediately assume that Dredd ripped it off. Dredd was announced in 2008 and the complete script was leaked online in 2010. Production began in November 2010 went for 13 weeks and was followed by a long period of post-production. The Raid: Redemption began was an attempt to follow up the 2009 film Merantau with a film called Berandal. After a year and a half it was discovered that Berandal would be too complex and time consuming instead created a smaller simpler film Serbuan Maut (The Raid: Redemption). Filming began in March 2011. The plot is a simple and cost effective one which isn't new and both films used to keep costs down and create tension. It seems mostly to be a coincidence, but one that hurt Dredd's reception.

My answer was gonna be The Thing but someone already mentioned it so I'll go with Big Trouble In Little China.

Believe it or not there is a lot of talk now that Forrest Gump was overrated but I don't think so.. Hanks is a tremendous fukking actor, I can never hate :manny:
