Seems like those days are long gone
Dropping a couple Milly on a brand new triple A game, especially a new IP doesn't seem like it's worth the investment.
What changed?
What does this say about the industry or gamers? Or both?
Elden ring is as much a new IP as each release of a final fantasy gameelden ring literally came out last year

Oh I guess I should have ask what brand new IP not based heavily off a existing ipIts literally a new IP
Idk if Cyberpunk is wildly successful. I wouldn't be surprised not to see anything more from the cyberpunk universe after this expansion at all. Especially if it doesn't do numbers.Elden Ring was last year
Cyberpunk (new IP as far as video games go) was 2020.
There are successes, but they're definitely not as plentiful as they used to be. The problem is that EA, Take Two, and Activision just aren't developing and publishing games at the same volume they used to. When most third party publishers are barely even getting three AAA releases lit a year, there's not a whole lot of wiggle room for games to not hit, unfortunately.
