It's between Not Like Us and Ether imo and I don't give a fukk about sales and impact. I only care about the actual songs. Grats to NLU for having that never heard before impact, and grats to Ether for being included in the dictionary but I don't care about none of that.

Not Like Us is the smartest and funniest diss song I've ever heard and Ether is the most vicious diss track I've ever heard.

Kendrick's ability to incorporate satir and humor in his songs (with his writing, intonation and performance) is a thing of beauty, dude smartly turned Drake into a laughing stock and that is one of the most damaging things that could ever happen to somebody. I could see Kendrick having a one man show tbh.
Nice comment, kendrick's sense of humor been amazing these last few years :blessed:

Depends on the criteria. Not like Us of course way bigger than Ether. We’ve never seen a diss track like it in terms of popularity so it wins in that regard.

Ignoring the actual quality of the diss tracks what Ether does have over Not Like Us, is it’s the winning diss where arguably the two best MCs went at it. Kendrick can’t help that Drake isn’t a real MC but Nas beating Jay like Lewis v Tyson, Kendrick’s diss like a legendary knock out by a great boxer vs some overhyped champ.

Metric wise u can’t compare anything to it.
Nighas ain’t ever win a Grammy off a diss track.
Ever.

That being said chief keep Faneto gets more play from ME as the best diss track out right now over k dot.
I think it doesn’t matter the song broke every record there is… it’s incomparable but if I was going to compare it hit em up and ether was in EVER Y car I heard not some but ALL… ijs

I think its getting there. Once it becomes a verb or a normal phrase like Ether in hip-hop then it will be.

“A Minoorrrr” and “Wop Wop Wop WOP” are heading towards lexicon status.

A 50 year old woman at the DMV was singing “Wop Wop Wop” as I was getting my license renewed and I asked her where she heard it and she said “Kendrick Lamar” with zero hesitation.

As far as pushed agenda sure, shyt wasn't organic at all like those other tracks

The beautiful thing with Not Like Us is that no matter how hard you try to re-write history, the shyt was so big that everyone remembers the moment it dropped.

-Against the actual industry, because Drake was botting on twitter, had podcasters on payroll and magazines even wrote (sources are there) that Drake was probably gonna win no matter what;
-Without any promotion, and for free,
-Had the whole world dance and sing that track literally MINUTES after it was released.

Even though I agree they started pushing it later on, that shyt was 100% organic upon release, and it's initial impact was undeniable.

The last song that instantly got everyone instantly go crazy like this was In Da Club.

Everyday @spliz wakes up with a brand new Kendrick thread driving him crazy :dead: ....and then have the audacity to say it's overrated when it literally has him on the verge of insanity :deadrose:

You just know he came on here today hoping to get a break from it. But nope:russ:

Here we go overrating ether again.

How in the hell is Ether overrated and NLU isnt? :dead:

Everything from the corny ass beef, down to the beat, rhymes and etc is overrated. shyt is a glorified pop track. There was no brutality lyrically, the shyt just has a catchy hook that brainwashed folks, adults and kids for that matter.

What y'all don't want to hear is Not Like Us was pushed by the industry and didn't have an organic impact

Ether was organic & shocked ppl in real time...literally left ppl speechless when they heard it

Imagine walking to school on a cold december day and hearing Ether be played

Nas dropped it on Jigga's bday...and it reclaimed Nas position as the best lyricist in rap

Don't even compare the competitive landscape of 2001 rap (Nas, Jigga, Kiss, Beans, Scarface, 3 stacks, X, Busta, Ghostface, Fab, Ja, Busta, Nore, Luda, etc...) to the barren landscape of 2024 rap

Ether is the most lethal diss in rap history

Not Like Us was a catchy song that was pushed by Lucien Grange and the powers that be in order to elevate Kendrick and diminish Drake
Exactly, close this bullshyt ass thread

shyt is much much bigger than hit em up, did more damage to his opponent than no vaseline, and got as many quotables as Ether.

Not Like Us is that 3 in 1 diss record :blessed:

:dead: :dead: :dead:

Nah breh, Ether was a stern talking to on some conversation shyt, lyrical without having to bar out.

No comparison and definitely not match in quotables
