My original question was more about the region(s) of MS that the majority of Chi people have roots in.

There was a thread about the Great Migration , and Alabama-to-Jersey came up. Newark,NJ had people from multiple places from the South, but a high % were from Southeast Alabama and bordering Southwest Georgia counties.
NJ industries sent recruiters to specific areas.

In keeping with the premise of the thread, was trying to see if a section of MS had been identified for being the place where a high % of MS to Chicago transplants arrived from.
That group would have an outsize influence on every aspect of Chicago culture.

The delta is the most known but honestly I think Chicago got a good portion every damn part of Mississippi lol.

It’s funny you mentioned this, I was just thinking about how I noticed ALOT of Mississippi folks who ended up in California, my family included, are from around and south of I-20. Just an observation I’ve made over the years.

I think when it came to the great migration and the cities they shaped, the primary state’s of influence tend to get a good spread while the secondary state’s tend to be more regional.

The USA has actually been in the middle of a "reverse migration of Black people from the North to the South" for the last 50 years since around 1970. That is why cities like Atlanta, Dallas, Houston, Charlotte, Nashville, Orlando, Tampa, etc., have grown while Chicago, Cleveland, Detroit, etc., have shrunk. Illinois has lost a whole ass congressional seat, due to the fact so many Black people have left Illinois, meanwhile Texas, Florida, North Carolina all gained one seat. If the trend continues then by 2030 the Black population in Chicago is projected to be about 650,000 which would be about half of what it was at it was during the all time high population of Black people was of roughly 1.3 million in 1980.

Im not clumping regular black folks with street people.. You're just assuming I am.. Everyone from the south aren't criminals.. I never implied that, thats just the way you took it.. Major migration did stop in the 70s, but that doesn't mean a brick wall was put up and people still couldn't move up to Chicago.. The family I still have in Jackson Mississippi tell me them nikkas down there bat shyt crazy. Some travel back and forth from Mississippi, to Memphis and Chicago..
