Has any QB gotten the “needs more weapons” excuse more than Cam Newton?

Kyle Allen has 2 touchdowns in the last 3 weeks. He has one of the worst QBRs in the league during that same period.

He has more fumbles than touchdowns.

Nothing about this is effortless

I’m saying. The kid is dumping the ball off to you mcAffrey and letting him do the work. Cam has also had bogus weapons and a host of other failures around him. Doesn’t absolve him from blame but it’s a reality.

Dude has 7 TDs to 0 ints is completing 66%, is 4-0 and they’ve scored 30+ in 3 out of his 4 starts. He’s doing something right.

I don’t think QBR is a very credible metric btw.

Steve Smith, Greg Olsen, Deangelo Williams, Kelvin Benjamin, Chris McCaffrey over 9 years is garbage?

Most good QBs don’t have weapons like Matt Ryan or Patrick Mahomes but they’re still mote effective passers than Cam.

The point isn’t necessarily about that though. It’s about people excusing his shortcomings as a passer by saying he needs more weapons, as opposed to still being a shaky pocket passer, being inaccurate and missing open receivers, completing 59% for his career, throwing off his back foot and having bad mechanics for no reason.

Pretty much everyone not agrees that Cam Newton is better than Kyle Allen.

The consensus going into this season what that Cam Newton had weapons and that wouldn't be an excuse if he was healthy and the team continued to struggle.

Cam Newton is injured. That's why he isn't playing. I know, crazy.

And it's pretty much a consensus among non panthers fans that Healthy cam Newton makes this team a real threat.

But, humor us all... In what world are Ted Ginn, Devin Funchess, and an injured Stewart considered having weapons.

Cam is inaccurate. He throws 59% for his career. He’s always missing open receivers, usually high. He still has inconsistent mechanics and throws off his back foot when there’s not even pressure coming.

He’s subpar as a pocket passer. That’s why he’s been since his injury. He’s not effective if he’s not mobile and running and hitting open receivers when the coverage breaks down. If he has to stand in the pocket and deliver the whole game, he is at best an average QB.

If he is healthy, he might can be the old Cam, rolling out and doing designed runs. But that’s not certain anymore cause it seems he might be starting to break down.

So yes peak Cam is better than Kyle Allen obviously but he’s getting older and more injured every year.

Stanning Cam in 2019 is like stanning Allen Iverson in 2006. Hop on a new horse.

Why is McCaffrey doing better with Allen in?

Weren’t Cam stans saying feeding him is holding back the offense until now.

Being that Allen is the better downfield passer, defenses probably don’t have to play as close in the box bexause the only threat was Cam or CMC running before, nothing deep. Now he’s out in space doing his thing.

I want them to let Cam walk and see what happens after that lol. It’s going to be funny if they don’t get far with Kyle Allen but still try to justify sticking with him long term. It’s not like they’re just like worlds better now just because they changed quarterbacks... they’re still letting teams hang around with chances to win. Props to the TEAM playing TEAM ball though. I still think Cam should chill at least for the year just to see if he can get back to 100% whether it’s to play for Carolina or some other team. There’s no need for him to rush back and possibly get hurt again.
