Ironic coming from a man that ended up in a mental asylum. Maybe he should have stayed closer to God.
he had syphilis.
what's that gotta do with god existing?

Thats up to the individual. If they are deep into the spirit, they can reach a meditative state. Does your body know the difference, chemically, friend? It depends on the kind of prayer, friend. Regular, protestant or Catholic prayer where you just kneel and "talk" to God and ask for forgiveness or pray for other such things doesn't do what meditation does, because it is in no way a rigorous mental-physical procedure and doesn't cultivate particular mental or physical abilities. It is more purely psychological. If you look in the traditions of Christian mysticism, though, you find the kinds of concentration and mental practices that do qualify as actual meditation.
You know what? I will share a meditation experience I had recently cause @Broletariat is right...this is a topic that needs to be discussed cause it could save a lot of peoples lives especially the younger dudes who sometimes get caught up in the quickness and fast pace aspect of life in 2013.
I been experimenting with meditating based on the phases of the moon because I noticed that the shyt really does effect peoples moods and not just women.
When I was meditating during a full moon maybe last month or the month before, I started feeling this level of clarity that I usually get during meditation but during the full moon the shyt happened very very quickly. Normally it takes me maybe 10 or 15 minutes to get into that state but I'm guessing the shyt happened in far less than that this time around. The room felt immediately HUGE. Like I started realizing just how small I was in comparison to my surroundings (a reminder why during the summer and spring months you NEED to meditate outside) and then all of a sudden it was like wow I'm here on Earth in NY in the crib but consider how SMALL you are. You are like a fukking atom compared to the rest of the shyt in the world let alone the universe. I lost it shortly afterwards because I got distracted by sounds from outside but then I did some fighting dancing (aka shadowboxing) a few minutes later and the fluidity that came from that shyt was almost scary. I also tried a break the very next day (single red brick) and the shyt went through like BUTTER. That NEVER happened before and I hadn't even been conditioning regularly.
The whole thing made me take a step back and realize WHOA I been neglecting a huge part of training....if you're constantly training, constantly working out, constantly doing physical activity, you NEED to take at least 20 min out of your day and just sit and focus on your breathing, don't think, don't ponder, don't do anything, just BE. The mind can get cluttered as fukk in this day and age and the meditation will help you relax your mind which will in turn relax the body. You'll sleep better, your awareness will be higher, and little subtle movements that you didn't pay attention to before will be like
There are like 4K different beliefs so IDK... the universe.. I mean we are connected physically and made up of the same shyt anyway..
..with what? and this still doesn't make sense.
It's not, I meditate without religion as well... it's all beneficial. Why is it "religion dependent?"
If you think it will work then it will. You know the mind is powerful.Does prayer work or not?
The only context is concentration and belief..... no other particulars.if it only works in certain "mental" contexts, then its NOT working.
idk, maybe it's placebo, but it works.. great men in history belief in it... individuals believe in it.OK...and what about prayer then?
It's foolish because you can't get cars money clothes n shyt without hard work or winning the lottery. You don't pray for handouts, u pray for tools. There are 7000 quotes from Torah, Bible, Qur'an, psalms that explains all this. Why is that foolish? Unless you're just gonna impose a societal standard instead of a universal one.
You know the saying about rich men and camel and needles n shyt? That's why. If we are talking meditation then the law of attraction is attraction happiness and positivity --- WHICH MIGHT or might not be all those things. IF we are talking religion then we don't ask for a BMWi8.... We want to acquire wealth to help our fellow men out and to live a comfortable life.... religion is against greed.how is asking for food on the table or money to pay rent any different from some nice accoutrements?
religious people and non religious people don't understand that you don't pray for objects... you pray for focus and for gratitude. I didn't make that up.sounds like you're just making shyt up. What???
Hell yeah I had to pray for that. Because if I just went to school and got it... I might be even wealthier and less happy.... or bitter and antagonize people all day. I might be selfish, feel like I'm better than people who didn't make it, and save my money for random shyt. With religion you continue to get more and more, imo. The universe never lets u have a limit when your focus is on charity and being pious. If you're focus is God then you're happy regardless of wealth. It helps ground you. There is a reason why nearly all charities and orphanages are religious based. You had to pray for that?
Basically you pray for something you can already get and claim god gave it to you?
The shyt scared me breh. Especially after I did that break the next day. Like holy shyt...the thought of what that could do to another person. And then I took a step back and I was like WOW...this is another reason why one of the commandments of my school is humility. You go out there thinking you a killer and you could end up in jail for hurting someone when you really could have walked away or just been like "aight man".I have had moments like that occasionally when I practice at night, that same moment of hyperclarity and internal awareness.
i think this is true...You're not even really supposed to think of anything when you meditate .
I'm not debating you on that. There are like 4K different beliefs so IDK... the universe.. I mean we are connected physically and made up of the same shyt anyway.
It's not, I meditate without religion as well... it's all beneficial.
Thats not necessarily true...and you know it.If you think it will work then it will. You know the mind is powerful.
The only context is concentration and belief..... no other particulars.
idk, maybe it's placebo, but it works.. great men in history belief in it... individuals believe in it.
So why would acquiring the attitude to obtain those things be MORE reasonable than just being granted those things? It's foolish because you can't get cars money clothes n shyt without hard work or winning the lottery. You don't pray for handouts, u pray for tools. There are 7000 quotes from Torah, Bible, Qur'an, psalms that explains all this.
So you're just arbitrarily quoting the bible now?You know the saying about rich men and camel and needles n shyt? That's why.
You're going all over the place. If we are talking meditation then the law of attraction is attraction happiness and positivity --- WHICH MIGHT or might not be all those things.
IF we are talking religion then we don't ask for a BMWi8.... We want to acquire wealth to help our fellow men out and to live a comfortable life.... religion is against greed.
religious people and non religious people don't understand that you don't pray for objects... you pray for focus and for gratitude. I didn't make that up.
Sounds like a coping mechanism to face the reality that you actually...didn't.Hell yeah I had to pray for that. Because if I just went to school and got it... I might be even wealthier and less happy.... or bitter and antagonize people all day.
I don't see why believing in god has to do with any of that.I might be selfish, feel like I'm better than people who didn't make it, and save my money for random shyt.
that's not proof. With religion you continue to get more and more, imo.
prove it. I don't see what's INHERENTLY beneficial or even "good" about being pious other than the meaning you ascribe to it.The universe never lets u have a limit when your focus is on charity and being pious.
If you're focus is God then you're happy regardless of wealth. It helps ground you. There is a reason why nearly all charities and orphanages are religious based.
But really all that's irrelevant and my opinion. Point is that all forms of meditation do work..
I have heard about this. Leaving the body and what not during meditation. I don't fukk with it though. I have felt myself get lighter one time to the point where I was raising up and I was like nah and brought myself back. I don't know anything about that and I never felt it since then but I don't want to mess with that aspect right now...fukk around and go nuts and start seeing shyt. I don't need that in my lifei think this is true...
so let's just say prayer is just some fake shyt..
Meditation is real.
Is astro projection real? is all the other types of things like that real?
my bm used to be on some buddist shyt for like 15 years ( think she still is) She meditated 3 hours daily (hoe never had a job, smile:
Anyway - the stories that she has seems like complete and total BS to me and I don't believe it.. she never said the words AP or anything like that but she claims she traveled around, expanded her body (whatever that means) and all sorts of shyt.
Then again, I pray to a skydaddy, so
The main religions in our world think this way is why I say it this way.I'm not debating you on that.
Thats not necessarily true...and you know it.
++...meaning?
Belief doesn't substantiate anything other than a very strong WISH
So why would acquiring the attitude to obtain those things be MORE reasonable than just being granted those things?
that makes prayer pretty pointless.
So you're just arbitrarily quoting the bible now?
I don't see that as some sort of inherent fact.
if thats the case, then whats the point of pursuing any money at all?
You're going all over the place.
1. why are you defining YOUR goals for prayer as everyone elses?
2. How can you say religion is against greed and not just YOUR religion?
3. why can't I ask for what I want to ask for?
...both of which are things you don't need prayer for so...
Sounds like a coping mechanism to face the reality that you actually...didn't.
I don't see why believing in god has to do with any of that. that's not proof.
prove it. I don't see what's INHERENTLY beneficial or even "good" about being pious other than the meaning you ascribe to it.
I don't see what being religious has to do with being altruistic...which is something all social animals exhibit.
So if its opinion, why bother stating it as incontrovertible fact?
Agreedo. Night practices are cool sometimes, but have a tonic effect and make sleep kinda weird. It's interesting that the lion's share of practice during the cultural revolution took place nocturnally though. The semantics being kicked in here is astounding.
Edit:
Some of my brehs need to be mindful of night practices you should be sleeping, it's not fun being caught in the awake/sleep state, unless you want to.
...So?The main religions in our world think this way is why I say it this way.
You're again describing a few religions to equate to all of them. The point of religion is lifestyle and religion hardly ever focuses on material gain.
The point is to connect w the universe, be grateful, and realize your purpose (for the most part)
but you haven't shown why/how prayer is different from meditation.Pray is the meditation form of practicing ur religion...
You don't get to make arguments saying "it works because it works"deep thought helps u focus on all that and the laws of attraction , attract all that shyt (whether it's placebo or not) .... and because it works... it's real.
Good. And fyi, being pious isn't really a requirement, i will admit.
But i added that because it is in Islam.
The actions of that piousness - include charity, devotion to ur fellow men because they are just lil parts of the universe and so in turn it's a way of connecting with it all.
I don't need that in my life
FYI I'm not atheist. I'm somewhere between agnostic and daoist at this point in my life. I feel like it would be absurd for me to claim that that the Judeo-Christian or Abrahamaic God is the creator of existence and all things but after reading some shyt on string theory and physics earlier this year, I think it would be equally as foolish to claim that this reality or realm that we exist on is all there is. And if so, what sent all of this into motion?
Is this reality simply a constant big bang and big crunch that takes place infinitely over the course of a trillion billion (man I don't know the number) years over and over again??? I don't know. And I'm not bold enough to claim to know so
Again breh I don't belong to any church, I don't claim any denomination whatsoever. I'm just saying I don't have all the answers, no one does.Great...another person who watched a few neil degrasse tyson vids ...sprinkles in some half assed understanding of physics and now thinks SOME OTHER deity is more plausible.
Why are you guys so hung up on believing in shyt? I mean seriously.
is it that hard to get you guys just to STOP doing that and focus on whether or not such a thing exists, much less that you should even acknowledge it?
