Graphically the game looks great, but a lot of times I don't feel like its that big of a step up from Halo 4. There's definitely a lot more going on the screen which makes the experience more immersive overall but I'm actually a little tired of the same environments over and over. Not a bad game at all. Just a few things I noticed here and there that I wish were a little better.

Pistol is the shyt. DMR is the only non power weapon Id use over the pistol.
been playing around with all the weapons now I know whats good and what ain't for me so I gotta get back on that magnum. other non-power weapons I like are the Storm Rifle (:dahell:), Boltshot, and the SMG. not gonna force myself to get good with the other guns for now

so I've been known to throw some clips together every now and again in Destiny when I had some spare time. I'll probably do the same here, nothing fancy or mlg status

:merchant:....the fukk. yall are beastin like that? picked up fallout and cod today, halo just didn't peak my interest. played halo 2 last month and shyt just seemed outdated as fukk. but these videos got me intrigued. seems like they made major improvements to the play style.

yeah breh, my first impressions weren't great actually cuz the spartan charge wasn't like it is in Destiny and threw me off a bit, ground pound seemed like a cool addition but I never thought I'd ever get a kill with it, and going back to hipfire when I been ADSing all these years was a bit of an adjustment.

But after a few games I got the hang of it. Sprint was needed in 2015, doesnt matter what the title of the game is and it works just fine (same for aiming down sights but I rarely do), all the weapons are balanced, most of the maps really aren't that bad when you've learned them, and I feel that if you sucked at Halo but were nice at other fpses, this game bridges the gap (note: Halo pros and/or parties with communication will still drop a deuce on you)

That right quote right there needs to be in the OP. 100% facts.

strongly disagree with a lot of this...

I figured as much. Care to elaborate?
Halo's maps were always built on vertical combat. Adding sprint forces you to make those maps more horizontal. Click to zoom in was unique to halo. I'm glad we still have the option. I'm always partial to the controls of halo 1-3. That's my opinion.

I still feel that sprint is detrimental to Halo. This isn't a game where one or two trigger presses will get you a kill, spartans have shields + health. The kill times aren't as quick as other FPS games (COD/BF/TF/KZ). Sprint being in the game forced the developers to make maps much bigger even with smaller team sizes (4v4/2v2). Bigger maps + sprint + shields + guns that don't kill instantly = No Bueno.

The aim system isn't quite ADS, it's basically a new skin of the old zoom. With that said, the older zoom feature was way better. You had zoomed in and saw yoru target closer without all this pretty technical shyt clogging the screen. You zoom in with the pistol and instead of staring down the sights like Halo 1 we have a scope hologram on the gun that obstructs the view a bit. It's not needed and is basically just 343 trying to be different while taking advatange of the power of next gen hardware. It's terrible on the carbine with that silly looking scope that damn near blocks everything.

The weapon balancing needs work. The sniper needs to be fixed. The bullet magnetism is crazy strong on it. No scoping is way too easy as well as zoomed kills. you can have your reticle beside someones head and the bullet will do some wanted shyt and curve toward the person you're shooting. I know this is console gaming and all but 343 overdid the magnetism in h5. The gun is clunky as fukk to use too, zooming in isnt snappy and crispy like previous games. The AR is OP....it's way too strong, especially when you zoom, the bullet spread gets tighter and the gun gets even more accurate when 343 said this was not suppose to happen. When competitive halo turns into who can get the most AR kills there is a problem. High level halo has always been about using a precision weapon (pistol/br/dmr) as your primary weapon. Halo 5 has flipped that shyt over and now you see ppl sprinting around with an AR out getting kills left and right with ease. It's not skillful at all. Since halo 1 the AR has always been a cleanup weapon, it's not supposed to be your primary toold of destruction in a match. If you play the FFA playlist you will see how much the AR and other automatics are way too powerful. Halo isn't a game liek COD or Battlefield where autos are primary weapons....343 fukked up and need to address this asap.

Look at the kill times for the main guns in H5 and then the h1 pistol for comparison

P4xgIos.png

The AR has a faster kill time than the pistol, br and dmr in h5. this wouldn't be a problem if the gun wasn't so easy to use. The Auto aim is too strong, the range is too much and when you zoom it becomes even more accurate. Terrible.

The majority of the maps suck. Honestly. Because of sprint and clamber 343 made maps with so many ramps, ledges, corners and corridors its crazy. Clamber also makes predicting player movement impossible at times when compared ot previous games...because someone can reach you from 10 different angles because of being able to climb a ledge...shyt is stupid. Map control has been a staple in competitive halo, but it feels like it means less now because of clamber and map design. Also, all the UNSC (human) maps look the same. They all have the same look and feel and it's lazy as fukk. Look at The Rig then look at Empire or Fathom...it's damn near the same pieces used to design all 3 maps. I havent played a map in h5 yet that makes me go "wow....I can't wait to play this again...it's dope". 343 has yet to make a classic halo map that ppl talk about and this is their 2nd game in the franchise. Bungie made classic from h1-h3.

You last point about "if you sucked at halo but nice at other fps games and h5 bridging the gap" is one of my main gripes with h5 and 343's take on halo period. They arent trying to make a great halo game, they are trying to make a great fps game. Which is a huge problem. Halo was always it's own thing, there wasn't any similarities between it and other fps games. 343 is now fusing military shooters (COD/BF/TF) with halo's philosophy and it's stupid as fukk. Bungie started the trend with sprint in Halo: Reach but then 343 went full retard with it in halo 4 with perks, load-outs and their bootleg care package system and now they got clamber and fake ADS in halo 5. The game is moving further and further away from being halo with each new addition to the franchise. I don't want to turn on halo and feel like i'm playing COD with spartans. That shyt ain't what i'm looking for. You shouldn't be able to suck at halo games from years ago and then suddenly go from blops3 to halo 5 with an easy transition in terms of skill. It shouldn't be like that. You should have to adapt to a game with a different feel...but because these shooters are so similar now it terms of gameplay mechanics you can hop from one to the next and still put in work. Guys like you who play every shooter (I don't) won't really see the issues with h5 or modern halo in general, but nikkas like me that play halo and halo only see all the flaws as soon as the game loads up.

I've been back to playing halo 1 on MCC till 343 make some changes to H5. I want to play Halo, not just another shooter. Chasing fans of other shooters is fukking this franchise up. Not to mention 343 putting out a game with tons of missing content. There isn't many maps, no file sharing, theater is worst than previous versions, limited playlists, no social playlists and other shyt. The game feels barebones at times depending on what you want to do. They had 3 years to develop a game with half the content of a game like Halo: Reach that came out in 2010. Lazy shyt.

I agree with all of your design points. Despite this, I feel like this is the best Halo since 3, easily. Biggest problem (from a competitive standpoint) is definitely the AR. It's too good.

Don't agree Halo 5 being easier to get into than previous Halos in terms of skill required. I've been playing Halo on and off for 10 years, and have actually found playing Halo 5 pretty challenging. And I was quite good at H1 and H2. It still very much feels like a Halo game.

Outside of the pistol the shooting skill isnt that great. The Autos are too easy to use. The BR and DMR are too easy to use and the sniper got everyone looking like pros. The game has similar mechanics to other fps games (sprint and clamber) so that adjustment period isnt going to be as long as going from blops 3 to halo 1-3.
