TYRONE GA!
:francis: The people that can name them probably only know them as venue spaces for parties/gatherings or weddings and gloss over the PLANTATION aspect or don't care
@JasoRockStar ita always been strange seeing all those subdivisions named "Something Plantation" back home.

America is one of the only countries where so many people are not just ignorant of the world around them and their history but proudly so.

Even as Black people of course it's important to know Black American history and of Africa but it's also important to know geography, geopolitics and world history because it increases our critical thinking and allows us to draw parallels and apply that knowledge to our advancement. Also when dealing with white people it's important to know their history too which will give you the tools needed to call out their barbaric nature which has been proven time and time again.

In this thread posters celebrate ignroance and deflect with what aboutisms to other knowledge people should have...

Yes people should ideally know about all of it. Slavery, the holocaust, north Korea, pol pot etc.

"It didn't happen here so why should we know about it?" Because history repeats. Knowing allows you to see the signs and respond accordingly.

No, OP said Americans can’t name a concentration camp. I agreed that not knowing enough history isn’t a good thing.

What does “I’m not demystified by white people”? You mean “White people aren’t mystifying to you. Do you have an understanding as to how or why they are how they are aside from “it was cold” and “they worship war and money”? Many societies were incredibly violent and worshipped bullshyt gods dedicated to war. And yet, these cacs exceeded them all. How? Why? Using that knowledge how do we neutralize this threat not just within white people but ensure no other human goes down that path?

Oh, and Malcolm knew enough to know about the Holocaust. He knew quite a lot about Jewish people actually which is why he was also able to be ahead of his time and call out Zionism for the barbarity that it is. Because it’s a barbarity that touches us too. And acting as if nothing is gained from having knowledge on the world and its people is backwards hustling. I literally work within the conscious community and I see everyday how ONLY focusing on all things Black creates blind spots that end up being filled with bullshyt.

But again, we can agree to disagree breh no judgment I just think it’s wise to know thy enemy.
The autobiography of Malcolm X should be required reading.

Wonder how many coli brehs have read it.

I agree, but not know the names of concentration camps is pretty nitpicky

I could see if mfs was on some denial shyt or conspiracy talk but it's bigger fish to fry

Even if no one thought of at least auschwitz, I'm sure they still understand what the holocaust was and broader impact it has

I, for one, welcome our new space overlords.
Oh wait, the force-feeding of the wealthiest, most powerful, most influential, most economically-impactful group of people as victims and noble angels isn't working anymore?

Maybe Hollywood needs to double the number of holocaust movies per year from 5 to 10?

Maybe double the budget?

Or make more "African Slavery was made by Africans themselves so the only other real human tragedy that matters is ours" movies with white saviors and black antagonists?

Those poor, underrepresented people!
