What does poverty in Haiti have to do with the United States? It's a bad idea for the United States to meddle with the internal affairs of other countries (i.e.: being a police state). This is the principle reason why Islamic extremists hate our guts (and the rest of the world).

It's imperative that Haiti (and every other country in the world) learn how to take care of themselves and not rely heavily on developed nations. If the government wasn't so corrupt and stupid it would be possible to emerge from dark abyss of poverty.
I agree that they should embrace the principle of do for self, what I was saying was look at PR, look at Jamaica, hell look at DR on the same island as Haiti, why don't they have the same degree of poverty as Haiti? It's because Haiti has been blacklisted by the west just like Cuba, for a number of reasons but IMO mainly out of animosity due to Haiti's history of being the first freed slave nation, with their warrior spirits and all their revolts and revolutions. The main reason why none of the other islands/nations I mentioned don't suffer the same poverties as Haiti is because the US floods these places with tourism money ,with the exception of Cuba but they eat pretty well of their imports (ever wonder why it's a felony to do trade with Cuba? It's because they refuse to bow down to the west just like Haiti). I'm not saying the US should just start sendin all their money to Haiti but there is no reason for that level of poverty to be taking place less than 100 miles from the shores of what is thought to be the richest and most prosperous nation in the world. We can easily stimulate their economy with our table scraps. Americans love carribbean island get always, you've never stopped to ask youself why Haiti isn't a big tourist attraction like Jamaica, The Bahamas, Barbados, etc?

Shout out to the Haitians. Lived in Miami for a few years and had a couple of Haitian friends who were some of the best people that you could meet. I can't wait to get back there with them at the beginning of the year. Maybe I can find me a wife also :manny:

We also helped liberate slaves in a different country. Venezuela.

At the time they were trying to declare independence from Spain. Revolutionary Simon Bolivar tried to get other cacs to help him out when shyt got hot but they ignored dude.

What he do? He ran to Haiti for protection. Alexander Petition the President of Haiti at the time became friends with him and decided to help him in his cause under the condition the slaves there were freed as well. :jawalrus:

That one I didn't know till I met my Venezuelan ex-gf a while back.

There is, but I went on a tour in Savannah and the tour guide literally passed the monument TWICE without even mentioning it, We asked him why he did that and he said there wasnt enough time :beli:...even tho he mentioned the most insignificant local attractions like a local bakery.

Black folk need to know their history

Not totally the case but most of this is true. Businesses actually want to control Haiti for profit but they haven't the right ties in Haiti to keep their ideas afloat since most of the government is corrupt. Haiti has over a billion dollars hanging above their heads but you have businesses trying to fight their way on the table on who will "help" build Haiti again. It's very political.
