Lol, yeah, shortsighted views of history...Many people online analyze history based on their agendas, with contexts having no importance at all.
People just pay more attention to Haiti because they are black and beat Cacs to gain independence. For now, they are an example to be made. However, if you understand history, you also understand that being at the bottom is not a permanent situation.
Even isolated and suffocated, they were still middle-income and self-sufficient from late 19th century to middle early 20th century, until US invasion. They will get it together eventually. Specially with the huge population boost black people are experiencing worldwide and people becoming more radicalized. This new generation will prioritize trade among black people, resulting in Haiti having access to a huge market to trade. Demographics is destiny. And the reason Cacs can't sleep, always controlling the black fertility rate worldwide...
For comparison, this is the main street of Seoul, South Korea in early 1900s
This is the main street of Port Au Prince, also in early 1900s...A century after independence and economic isolation. Country was not rich but institutions worked, agricultural sector was super productive and there was stability...
Difference is that one country(South Korea) was boosted and became a vassal of the US, while Haiti has been economically isolated and suffocated, to serve as a black example.
PS: Out of context, who else was on twitter when pages were sharing 19th century pictures of Korea and Japan, and Cacs were like "That's not true, it can be. They were already super advanced"?
