AUDIO | Haitians Overwhelmingly Tell U.S. Embassy to "Butt Out" after Call for Dialogue

The opposition coalition in Haiti wasted no time in responding to a note from the U.S. Embassy on Thursday which called for dialogue without preconditions or delay. Haitians called in to radio shows, commented on Facebook, overwhelmingly with the same message, for the U.S. to stop interfering with Haiti's attempt resolution of the political, social and economic crisis in Haiti.

Spokesman for the Alternative Coalition for the Refoundation of Haiti, Michel Andre, released the response within an hour of the embassy's publishing of the note in English, Creole and French. Mr. Andre said:

"I reject the non-conditional dialogue proposed by the U.S. Embassy - In my role as Spokesperson for the Democratic and Popular Sector, a signatory of the Alternative Coalition for the Fefoundation of Haiti, I reject without ceremony the dialogue without conditions proposed by the American Embassy to solve the Haitian political crisis."

In the morning, during the nationally broadcasted morning news program, InfoVision on Radio Vision2000 FM, the phone lines were opened to the public where every caller rejected, not only the proposal by the United States but its interjection into Haiti's affairs.

Even on the Facebook post of the U.S. Embassy in Port-au-Prince, where the note, in all its versions was posted, commenters criticized the U.S.'s involvement and also rejected the proposal.

Haiti is in full blown revolution. Every sector of national life has rejected President Jovenel Moïse. He is only kept in power, according to the EU Ambassador, allegedly, by the U.S. citizens heading the United Nations Mission in Haiti and the U.S. Embassy in Haiti.

The Catholic Church does not want democracy in #Haiti. Here are the two popes with dead dictator Jean Claude Duvalier and dictator-in-traning Jovenel Moise. But, Aristide who represented the poor majority was forced out of the church, and they backed both coups against him.

The government of "poor" #Haiti shamelessly admits it gave billions of dollars in tax exemptions to a few rich families in just 5 years. This unsurprising revelation made me think of a woman who lost 4 of her 5 children to malnutrition

Volunteers Clean Parks, Streets then Dump Garbage at Mayor's Office

In Ouanaminthe, Nord-Est, on Sunday, a group of young volunteers took the initiative to clean the public square and other areas of the commune and then dumped the waste in front of the town hall offices.

In an interview, the initiators of the volunteer activity said that the Mayor of Ouanaminthe, Luma Demetrius, had authorized them to undertake such work and were even pledged to be provided with a garbage bin for the collection and disposal of waste, they added.

The Mayor did not keep her promise the young people told a regional reporter, explaining their anger and dissatifisfaction after cleaning space for activities at the parks and throughout the roadways. The news agency, Vant Bèf Info (VBI) was unable to get Mayor Demetrius' version of the events surrounding the incident.
