He was the fastest heavyweight no doubt. I personally think he could've given Ali a closer fight (first meeting) if he was in his prime (I think Patterson complained about his back giving him problems, and I think Cus was already out of the picture)

That's the first thing that came to mind when you said that. He couldn't bob or weave & was a sitting duck. A healthy Patterson would've made it more competitive though

:snoop: :snoop: @ you saying this in the Ring of all places

you nikkaz stay fronting like you in mickey's gym on rocky looking at old ass films with the 1940's and shyt, while smoking a cheap cigar wearing one of them old jew account visors

fukk outta here with this fukk boy shyt, nikka talking about archie moore and ezzard charles, who aren't ieven n the all of fame at heavyweight, that's why I said he just wikipediaed the answer

also the bold wasn't directing at this forum it was just a general statement on people who bring up Rocky Marciano's 50-0 record

I lack knowledge

nikkaz in here talking about Marciano's fakkit as 49-0 like it means something

nikkaz in here bring up floyd record like it means something, it don't mean shyt, Floyd is great because what he displays in the ring, nobody cares about that record but casuals

the 49-0 is just an espn bullshyt conversation, if you was a real boxer fan like you claim to be, you always dikk riding Pernell Whitaker like you know something about him

you should fukking know Julio Cesar Chavez was fukking 87-0 when he lost, but the got the draw against Whitaker
so the nikka was 87-0-1

He shattered marciano shyt a long ass time ago and nobody gave a flying fukk

Floyd Mayweather's record means a lot to his brand, his legacy and his persona

Also Julio Cesar Chavez was mostly fighting tomato cans and cab drivers

We talking about legacy in here not brand, Floyd is at the end of his career

floyd's legacy isn't going to be his record it's the skills his displayed in the ring

The record is the record, Marciano was fighting cans to and only defended his belt six times half against former middleweights

the whole point is the record never meant shyt, this is an espn talking point for casuals

Chavez defended his superfeather weight belt 9 times, won the light weight belt defended it twice before beating roger mayweather again for the WBC Light Welterweight belt and defended it 12 times before losing to Frankie Randall then winning it back from him the next fight then defending it 4 more times including the fighter of year with Meldrick Taylor

Chavez record is way more impressive than rocky marciano's, he was 89-0 before he even tasted the canvas

like I said it's nothing but media bias to bring up rocky's record who only defended the title 6 times, when Joe Louis still has the record for 25 title defenses, and overlook chavez and a bunch of other fighters

nobody things 49-0 is a big deal except casuals

Its about retiring undefeated without draws and no contest, and champion. Many fighters had high undefeated streaks, but thats a different record category.

Title defense records are separated by weight division.

Joe Calzaghe retired undefeated too, nobody cared

boxing fans know how good fighters are, retiring undefeated is something nobody has ever cared about

so if Floyd retires 50-0 and then decides to come back later, and loses after a two fights, does he still get to keep the record

lmao, nobody cares about retiring undefeated this something for casuals to talk about

if every great fighter retired early they could retire undefeated lmao

if Roy Jones retired after 6 title defenses he would've been undefeated too lmao

nobody cares, plenty of people surpassed 49-0 lmao

if its just about the number, what doesn't matter, the record matters to casuals and the non-boxing media which covers floyd mayweather, boxing fans never cared about that shyt

joe louis is ranked the number heavyweight of all time by ring magazine not rocky mariciano
