that's fair.

Thats more about peoples memories tho. shyt spiked under Trump as well versus the Obama era.

A big issue is the media's view of "the economy" isn't the same for regular people, but regular people subscribe to the media view.

Biden is doing bad with the economy too, but Trump's economy was also shytty for regular people. So was Obama's.
How is Biden doing bad with the economy?

@Mook Is on some both sides shyt

The economy is fine for the investor class (Which is how it's judged by the media). The economy is not fine for everyday people.
When has the economy ever been fine for the everyday person?

It’s always been a struggle

Full employment is measured at a 4% unemployment rate

August unemployment rate is 3.8%

This means that everyone that wants a job has a job which means the the production of goods and services are high and the consumption of goods and services are high

Is there a single industry hurting in America right now?

Easy, back when baby boomers were coming up. Things we're affordable, people could get homes, people could afford college ETC. Hell things were better 30-40 years ago. People are being completely priced out of things like college and homes etc right now because wages aren't keeping up with inflation. The economy is not good for the average person and people have every right to be angry about it

The economy as I said before very good for the investment class, very bad for everyone else (aka the people you need to convince to vote for you)

I don’t know what’s going on with the internet where people pretend older generations didn’t struggle just because things were a lower cost

As it was stated in this thread Americans aren’t the brightest. They don’t blame Trump for him tanking the economy (which he did), they blame the Pandemic and the liberals for shutting down their cities with mask mandates.

They see Trump as the guy who gave them cash and put money in their hands when things were spiraling out of control.

Which is why you hear this narrative that people had more money under Trump even though economically speaking it’s not true

It's simple. Who runs, owns and operates america right now? Is it people under 50 or over 50? This answers your counter point.
So you’re saying in due time there will be a generation of people talking about how the current under 50 Gen had it easy?
He likes being contrarian. I don't think he's trying to have a serious conversation

I haven’t said one thing contrarian in this thread

He’s not being a contrarian

He doesn’t know what he is talking about and is as foolish as a Republican who votes for any Republican candidate because they are Republican against a Dem.

If the same metrics were under a Republican candidate, he would say the economy was shyt.

My guess is that national polls are weighting GOP voters heavily because they missed that way in 2016 and 2020, but state polls (and actual off-year elections) are trending Dem because they are not doing that (and of course, an off-year election can't weight anything as it's actual real data about who is voting).

I get it, though. The question is how energized Trump voters are. They tend not to show up for anything but Trump, so what happens when he's on the ballot next year?

The Census Bureau may have solved the mystery when it released its annual update on income and poverty earlier this month. The median household income in 2022 was $74,580, a drop of about $1,750 from the year before. And income in 2021 dropped $330 from the year before that.

Compared with 2020, when Biden won the presidency, household incomes have fallen $2,080, or 2.7%. Those numbers are adjusted for inflation, so they reflect real declines in living standards.

Inflation is the culprit. Nominal wages have risen, but inflation has risen more. “The rate of inflation outstripped the rate of pay increases so that the income of most households did not buy as much,” William Galston of the Brookings Institution wrote recently. “Americans noticed this decrease, and as the polls indicate, they did not like it.”
