The examples that they use for their theory go back to the 15th century. I think their theory is a piece of the puzzle rather than a comprehensive explanation. But I don't think Diamond's theory is comprehensive either. How can it be? Global development is and has been extremely complicated.

And yes. Africa wasn't as technologically advanced in terms of "toys" of innovation. They weren't stupid though...just not getting shyt popping like Europe was at the time. Thats no fault of their own, merely a result of geography and selective pressures.
