Some of the game mechanics discussed there seem like the logical direction of the series (your car being like your horse in RDR2, storing weapons/armor there etc)

Won't be surprised at all if the game is inspired by Narcos. All the 3D GTAs have been heavily inspired by popular crime films and specific crime genres. The narcos are the ones buzzing the most right now and when you think about it, the fact that they haven't made a cartel centric game yet is wild.
