I dont think players whose careers were shortened due to injury should be considered busts. Kwame Brown and Anthony Bennet are busts

Nah that 'distinction' will definitely go to Anthony Bennett :heh:

Well, the Cavs did that dumb shyt and picked Bennett. I dont think anybody but the Cavs thought he was even a top 10 pick..

He's being hard on himself. He wasn't a bust, he just had an injury-plagued career. Averaging 9 ppg, 7 rpg, and 1 bpg and 11, 8.5 and 2 in only 20 minutes in his first 2 seasons while not being 100% healthy is not bad at all.

That was just Cleveland being dumbfukks. I remember Nerlens was supposed to be the #1 pick that year but dropped cuz of health concerns. Bennett wasn't even supposed to go until like 10. Giannis, Rudy, CJ, Steven Adams, Shroder, Dipo, Crabbe, Noel, KCP, Porter, Roberson, McLemore, the list goes on of 2013 picks who should have went over Bennett
you're exaggerating. Bennet was top 5 pick on almost every major mock draft:
Mock Draft consensus: Noel to Cavs

Noel and Mclemore were the favorite to go first most of the year, but teams were concerned about Noel's heath and Mclemore's mental strength especially after his terrible performances in the tournament. Oladipo, Len and Porter were up there, but Bennet athletic abilities, skills and 7-1 wingspan made scouts call him the next larry johnson.
Sam Smith’s 2013 mock draft

Rudy, Giannis, Adams, Shroder, Crabbe, KCP and Roberson were never in the top 5 discussion at all.

Yes and no though. I think everyone was shocked at that pick and criticized it

He should have never been in that position

Draft just had no true #1. Well Giannis, but everyone missed there

I remember Masai was tryna move up, now we see why

That list of names was just in hindsight, because the person I replied to mentioned Giannis

Adam Morrison?
Marvin Williams?
Sean May?
Eddy Curry?
Darko Milicek?
Dennis Hobson?

Greg Olden and for that matter Sam Bowie were not busts. They were just injury prone. Their bodies could not do it, but when they played they were decent.

I mean using this logic, Adam Morrison had diabetes and had an ACL injury he never recovered from, and Curry was looking like a solid C (at least on offense) but had many heart issues.

I don't think Marvin Williams is a bust. Sure there were players like CP3 or D-Will (among others) drafted after him but he had a solid career and is as good as he ever was now :manny:

I often hate the idea of a "bust" because it usually lets the general manager or team that drafted the "bust" off the hook.

For example, is Anthony Bennett really a bust or did the Cavaliers just make a dumb ass pick? Was Kwame Brown a bust or did Michael Jordan not do his proper evaluation, and then proceeded to completely demoralize the pick HE made?

His body failed him, that's beyond him. period. Anthony Bennett couldn't even make it out of his rookie contract. Olowakandi and Thabeet were miserable. Even if you want to hold injury against a player, Sam Bowie was picked before the GOAT. Oden, by any measure, is not the biggest bust of all time

Bennett was highly touted, he would've got picked at 3 by Washington if the cavs didn't pick him. Brown was a talent as well, but his own shortcomings were compounded by MJs insanity in an ultimately toxic mix. Organizations are often as culpable, if not more, for these prospects failures
