While they weren’t the favorite in 1994 (Montreal was) they did lose 1 postseason to the strike.

They SHOULD have beaten the Yankees in 1996. Even if that Yankees team was good, they had a 2-0 lead in the series. As much as Jim Leyritz’s home run was a huge moment, I think the real killer was Game 5. Smoltz was dominant for 8 innings and Andy Pettite pitched into the 9th of a 1-0 Yankees victory.

If Atlanta wins that game, momentum shifts and maybe they take the series.

1997 they ran into a hot Marlins team.
1999, nobody was beating those Yankees.
Baseball is a hard sport. The A's lost to the Reds with a superior squad.

Analytics is what happened. Also nikkas throw too hard today. Back in the day, it was rare to have a Randy Johnson. Nowadays, you got at least two guys on every roster throwing 98+.
