If all political leaders cared about was securing resources “for me and my people” , war wouldn’t be as prevalent. It’s about securing resources fueled by power, greed, unimaginable wealth and hubris. Everybody wants to impose their wills upon one another and tell them how they should be running their countries. And when we don’t agree we use force. And the idea that we’re fighting for human rights and freedoms is bullshyt because we let countries that don’t provide resources commit unchecked genocide all over the world. Technology has come far enough to where we could sustain ourselves based on what we can produce and what we can get from our “allies.”
But greed and the love of power will never disappear, so it’s really a pipe dream.
