For comparison’s sake, many of The Wire’s black characters are also criminals. But we see that the most successful of them - Avon, Stringer, Joe, Marlo - are nuanced, intelligent, and transcend their stereotypes. They’re not there for white characters to make fun of, and then for the narrative to justify said white characters by portraying them as inefficient, bumbling idiots.

The main characters are constantly portrayed a despicable, hypocritical, racist idiots.
It's pretty much the point of the show.
Aside from being on the same network...Wire comparisons are worthless.
