The criticism of the scene posted is valid and the criticism of the overall portrayal of Black people is to. Although, I think David Chase/the writers had a curiosity about the Black experience just didn't know how to do it well on screen and it came off clumsy/racist a lot. But I digress, after taking a step back the show was perceived as this edgy anti-hero character study while it was airing and being super popular. But really now you can see after the hype had died down it is just a dark comedy and tragedy about a way of life that is at its end.
