Greatest show, huh? Well this may be the worst scene in tv show history

cold, cold, coldA LOT of the criminal element of that show was painted as bumbling idiots...the first time I ran thru the sopranos I didn’t get a full appreciation of the show as I looked at it as an overrated drama...on the second run thru I peeped the comedy which is damn near neck and neck with the dramatic aspect of the show and could argue that it’s damn near borderline a parody of the mafia

There's a reason for that...it shows they are thugs, racists, and outright sociopaths. You're not supposed to be cheering for them. Meadow was the only one who had any real sense and was progressive. There are anti black moments in Godfather, Goodfellas too. Sonny saying they knew they use the money to buy "new Cadillacs" as he's making the steering wheel motion or Henry saying the only ones that get caught are "n1gger stick up men who are asleep at the wheel...I got things organized with these guys". Dismissed and seen as guys who are drawn to toys instead of taken serious as criminal partners.shyt like this is why I never bothered to watch this show. I remember that clip about how black people where portrayed in The Sopranos, just constantly getting beat up or talked down on.
I still can’t understand how so many black people will go to bat for it. Like, this is what they think of you. Why support them? I swore off a bunch of mafia shyt for the same reason. fukk them.

I don't see how anyone can say the Sopranos is better than The Wire or Breaking Bad.

The character of paulie walnuts is almost cartoonish hilarious somtimes . Such as the poison ivy during a Hit, lost in the woods fukk up with the russian, and talking to the ghosts wit that guy who claims he can contact the dead. Etc... Meanwhile in real life the actor was actually a legit gangsta

ya the first time around a lot of the humor went over my head...I only watched it bcuz ppl kept comparing it to the wire and if you focus on it solely as a drama it falls woefully short of the wire imo
but I saw a thread on here where cats pointed out how funny the show was...the level of silly/dumb coincidences and shyt I saw had me laughing on some curb your enthusiasm shyt...to the point that I googled whether or not david chase intended for these moments to be purposely funny...and he confirms that he never envisioned the show strictly as a drama or comedy as it’s equally both...I watched the series again from that standpoint and it was much more entertaining
the wire is still better imo...but I definitely have this in my top 3

Lol no it isn't. It's still the funniest prestige drama and with it being more episodic, holds up a lot better than the more serialized stuff. It's also gaining new fans, younger fans, and No Context Sopranos is one of the best twitter accounts on the planet.
