Leave the fires for the desert heat.

I grew up in Louisiana where it’s hot af for half the year. I’m not worried about the heat. I used to play football in full pads in damn near 100 degree weather. The cost of living here has become ridiculous and with the home I want built, I’d never do it out here.

All of my children were raised in a beautiful city (San Diego) and will be adults by the time I leave. I’m good with that.

Regarding insurance companies and other industries, it’s absolutely a clusterfukk grift all these companies are running.

Reminds me of the grift theoretical physicists are running as well (looking up particles they know they have no intention of finding).

If only if there were some way to take all this money out and put it into actually useful shyt. But the money protected money.

Ponzi scheme and pyramid scandals all the way.

It’s all fukking dumb.
Insurance is easily one of the biggest scams if not the biggest

Florida getting most of the attention, but companies are now are either no-longer accepting new customers or pulling out of California; there is just less media coverage because Hurricanes are more sudden, and cause more fear in the Media.

Devils Advocate: Insurance is all about risk about something that MIGHT happen. If that MIGHT becomes a LIKELYHOOD, then Insurers will be afraid to underwrite insurance in California because they would be paying out more than taking in premiums.

it's definitely a scam, but what's the alternative :yeshrug:

they have to make a profit, to be able to cut people huge checks when their houses burn down. if we say fukk insurance companies, and shift that burden to the government, everyone's property taxes will just explode

it's a lose/lose situation

Insurance isnt a scam per se. Insurance isnt really for us, its more for the mortgage companies or auto loan companies that are the ones financing the homes and cars for us. 99% of us would not be able to cover the losses out of our pockets to pay for car repairs or rebuild these homes lost in a fire.

Understandibly though (and I see and feel it daily), it does feel like a scam when we are paying for this stuff each month and never have to use it. But when you do, its a godsend. So I hope that all of these who have lost homes and businesses have insurance to be able to help start over again. And I hope that these insurance companies dont be a$$holes to these people.
