california cities have budget shortfalls due to WFH, police overtime, and the homeless crisis, we've had to cut our fire dept budget also, including closing two fire stations for the first half of the year. but of course a headline won't ever convey nuance

The worst part about this is the fight people are going to have with insurance companies. Wouldn't surprise me if companies decide not to pay and leave Cali. Home owner Insurance was already a pain to get(coverage and costs). I imagine it's going to be like Florida after this.
Yep, I'm hearing the insurance companies won't be able to cover this type of massive widespread damage. Sh*t is all f*cked up

Considering the lack of rain in SoCal, it's a wonder this hasn't happened many times in years past.
Fires are year round. They just don’t get attention because they’re not as crazy like these. There was the Malibu Fire back in December. Several months ago there was one up in the San Gabriel Mountains. The last multi fire one was A few years ago with several in the IE and OC.

This shyt is crazy. Absolutely out of control.
If I lived in a place where fire is a problem you best believe i'm skinning my crib in sheet metal. It would look like a delux favela home.

I saw a vid where firefighters couldn't get water out of the hydrants. Dudes couldn't do nothing but watch everything burn around them.

Would be some sad shyt if a historic stadium like that went down. I've always wanted to go to the Rose Bowl. :mjcry:

I doubt the Rose Bowl would crumble, but would need to be renovated. The Getty Villa survived in Pacific Palisades but obviously the outside is a different story.

Not sure of Los Angeles' water pipes, but, if they are not deep enough underground the fire could have either melted the pipe (if it was PVC or rubber) or have melted the gaskets between the pipes causing a failure of the system... which could be one of the reasons why the hydrants have gone dry.

But yeah, not a fun time right now.

These droughts out West have been so bad and get worse and worse. I can't even remember the last substantial rain we've gotten where I'm at. Add that wind and it's a recipe for disaster.
I live in Tahoe last season had 62feet of snow
