People who watch the nets have told you the past five years that Sean Marks has not put a big body on that front court. This has been the same problem before any of these big names were signed.
Marks drafted Allen.

And then it was KD who sacrificed Allen to bring in his mans Harden.

KD wanted that Big 3. He didn't want a balanced squad; he pushed all his chips in on Harden and Kyrie.

How were they supposed to have any big worth his weight in salt when this is what KD wanted? When that experiment failed miserably they were left trying to amend that situation and Harden inexorably forced their hand to trade him to Philly (who didn't have a legit big to send in return). But besides that, a big man isn't fixing the deep-rooted problem with this team.

It was doomed from the start.

Allen was getting abused in the playoffs in the blocks.

He wasnt it either.

People just want to mention all the late coming big names as if thats the problem. They arent Nets fans. Its the same shyt going on close to six seasons. Sean Marks has never addressed that issue.
The late coming big names?

KD wanted to form a big 3 with Harden and Kyrie. Sacrifices needed to be made to form that.

How are they supposed to address whatever issue you believe is in the frontcourt with their salary cap tied up among those three? Now they've got Ben's salary handicapping them and he's not the player he once was.

The problem is having those three personalities in the same lockerroom [KD, Kyrie and Harden] was a disaster waiting to happen, which is why it ended the way it did, and why you have a culture with no leadership and accountability. All the drama that Kyrie has brought upon this squad over the last 2-3 years is a reflection of that.

Even if a legit big man was financially viable, it wouldn't make a difference. It wouldn't undo all the decay that has rotted this iteration of the Nets from the inside-out.

Probably more than six seasons. Ever since Brook Lopez left we haven’t had a true center worth a damn since. Teams around the league all have at least 1 solid big man that specializes in something, the nets don’t have that and it’s because of Sean marks

Who were they supposed to get after they traded Allen to form the Big 3?

I don't know why y'all keep running interference for KD/Kyrie.

Marks was the GM from 2016:

- they initially had Lopez
- they then drafted Allen in 2017
- KD was then signed in 2019 (who didn't play the entire season because of injury)
- Allen was then traded to get Harden in 2020 (which was KD's plan)
- from that point onwards it wasn't realistic to get a legit big man.

I'm trying to work out exactly what else was supposed to be done throughout that period?

Again, as I need to keep reiterating, the forming of the Big 3 ended whatever hope there was to have a balanced squad (which includes having a legit big). But again, even if their frontcourt was not a weakness, it still wouldn't rectify the current situation they're now in. It's well beyond that now, and focusing on not having a big man is only a red herring to distract yourselves from the stank that lies beneath surface.

Damn, so what happened to the narrative that this team is so much better without Kyrie? :jbhmm:

I'm assuming he played.
