i work for UPS, we rarely hire outside of the union. Being the best paid in the industry, there is a waiting list to get in once we run out of people who want to go into trucking. Usually it’s a long process where u have to start as a part timer, then become a package driver, then you put your name on the feeder list. But if you were to try to get in, now is the time to do it. Being a Christmas hire could get you a permanent spot.

I am already a Teamster :smugdraper: what is the required amount of driving experience there?

Anyone here drive for Walmart, FedEx, or UPS? Thinking about leaving where I'm at but the money has got to be similar if I'm going to be regional. Wouldn't mind being out for 5-6 days at a time. Would prefer local but from what I see online FedEx/UPS have seniority boards and I don't want to run teams there, so daycab runs probably land me on the extra board sitting by the phone. fukk that shyt.

Thinking about staying and going to local side but I dunno if I feel like doing railyard shyt again or pickup and delivery. Upside would be going home daily and getting paid by the hour + 5-day workweek + off on weekends.

Been running teams here and my partner decided he wanted to pair up with someone else. Been considering leaving for awhile anyway, but not sure where because I am having a lot of trouble figuring out what the other companies are paying. I dunno if I would go there and actually make more.

Then I think about getting a truck sometimes but I would have to be making at least double what I make now, but driving solo. Idk if that is possible. Really in a bind :(

How'd everything work out for you over there @EzekelRAGE

You could deliver Gasoline

Home every night, and very good hourly pay

idk breh how much does that pay a year? Driving around in a big bomb doesn't sound good to me since I smoke lol plus Chicago traffic and bad drivers who run into shyt like it's Twisted Metal :why:

Does it pay over 80k for a company driver because I'm in that area now :lupe:

Do you get paid by mileage, by the hour, or by load and do you get paid for loading and offloading the fuel? Is it 5 days on / 2 days off?

I thought about it (tankers, not fuel) before I landed at this company... is hauling diesel a lower paying job than hauling gasoline, because diesel probably appeals to me more with it's lower volatility

If you got 2-3 years experience you can make 80k-90k easily

Just don't smoke on the job lol, problem solved. Or smoke on lunch breaks

Get with a company that pays hourly, those are the best.

I rarely see Gasoline companies pay by the mile. I have seen like some pay is by the miles combined with pay by the hour. You would have to ask for the average pay per week for a driver to see if they in your price range

If you see a Gasoline company that pays by the load, and it's local? Laugh in their face while you hang up the phone lol

Other options are a Regional Ethanol run, those are easy as fukk. Hella easy
Or you can do Regional Propane runs, those aren't bad either

I didnt know we had a thread on this!

I work for one of the largest 3PLs in the world. I love logistics!

if any brehs needs loads, please reach out. I am a broker on the shipping side so i dont get any commission for helping you. So thats how you know the help is real.

I am actually going to buy a reefer unit later this year so i can start giving my upcoming trucking company all the good loads. make money on the front and back end.

Also, last mile delivery is going to be HUGE. So if you prefer to be home every night, get a sprinter van and delivery for amazon or other companies.

You think It’s possible to make more on a sprinter van working for Amazon, than owing a truck?.

If anyone is looking for work, DO NOT sign on with Fidelis Freight based out of Jacksonville FL. They do bad business all around. Charging for trailer rental, say they pay 70% of gross revenue but wont. Piss poor loads. Only getting you about 2100 miles a week, OTR, to net a little over 2k a week to the truck. Final straw was my guy ran a load for 1700. Fidelis Got 900 and the other 800 went to the truck. Then you still had to pay for fuel from that 800...

I knew of 3 drivers who left, and i had to see the writing on the wall before i was the next one who got jugged. I dont drive, but i own a truck and hire drivers.

It seems like if you dont want to sign on to a huge company, and work for a smaller fleet, you have to hear about them through word of mouth. Some of them dont post on Indeed or other sites.

There's a lot of lies out there in the trucking world.....Local work is enough for me. I don't plan to be over the road for any company anymore. At least I know I'm more than likely going to be home every night......Only situation I won't is if the truck broke down somewhere hours away and I had to stay in a hotel overnight.

Let me ask y’all this:

If you signed on with a company, not as a company driver, but agreeing to get a percentage of each load, like 20% of each load, what are some things inside the truck that would make you not want to leave?

I already got a mini fridge. Down the line I want to put a microwave, possibly a TV, and have a hotspot for WiFi.

Just tryna brainstorm to make it as comfortable as possible without breaking the bank.

Been thinking about it some more and I think I might get my own truck and run it for 3 years. Now I have to look into that and see how I would go about doing it.

For the folks in here leasing, how much is your truck costing you a month on average?

As a regular driver? No. You'll make $14 to $18 per hour in the greater ATL area working for someone else. But if you own the LLC running the guaranteed shipments from Amazon, then you can make a salary of $100K within two years.

A buddy and I are actually looking at partnering up with Amazon in FL. And with the recent orders of 100K Electric delivery vans, the operating costs could go lower.

I was talking to a lady like two weeks ago, I asked how much she makes, I just :mjcry: I’m in the wrong end of trucking. I am however considering being a dispatcher full on title wise rather than some clerk that dispatches.

Be careful breaths. Trump got the racist truckers empowered and trying to get in the way of our grind. I’ve been pushing back more these days because these fools be testing and trying to get in my way.
