They suck on the dry bulk side, check out Schneider if you want to pull tanks. My buddy I was in CDL school with got on with them and is averaging decent money for a newbie.
Conductor, basically collecting fares and shyt
But I'm getting promoted to engineer which means I'll be operating the trains. That was my dream job coming up and now I'm finally here
I got my CDL back in 2013. I barely made it out of training with Swift and just quit with probably 2-3 months in. Are we in agreement that regular OTR is for the birds? What are my options.
You got either local or regional breh.
Local you stay in state and maybe part of a neigbor state.
Regional you got a certain area of the country you drive. Like me Im going to drive the Midwest.
Or you could drive for companies like ups,fed ex, city jobs etc.
I got an update and important question for my brehs.
As I said before I went through 160 to get my permit and eventually my licence.
I failed my writtren exam 3 times
So I was put on a 30 day hold from testing again. Then got "Diagnosed" with "Sleep Apnea" so a sleep lab doctor tells me that I must do a minimum of 22 days and 4 hours a night to get my 1 year medical card.
Ok no problem im already on a 30 day hold so fukk it.
Just few days ago I get my permit then I go back to BULLshyt "Concentra" medical center and im told I have to have
90 DAYS ON MY CPAP MACHINE TO GET MY ONE YEAR CARD.
By that time my permit is goona exspire and summer goona be over.
So is there some where else I can go besides concentra that was my 3rd time going to them and getting only a 3 month card.
I need a year card in order to practice on this range.
Where my illinois brehs at I need yall
Most trucks are auto but the company will still test you in a manual to see how you handle the truck. You can find a local job without OTR experience. XPO in Atlanta is hiring right now.Preciate the response. But don't you have to drive a year OTR to be considered locally. My main problems are backing, filling log book, and knowing how to approach lots and shyt. My trainer wasn't the best. Are the standard trucks still 10 speed. Any one of yall driving an automatic. Old timers don't like them but fukk it, it's 2017 and these trucks are advancing.
