That's awesome... I got the sanitaation test come february I gotta go get my CDL license soon too. congrats any pointers...?

You getting your Class B or Class A?

Study that Pre-Trip, that's most important IMO
Backing is more of instincts and when to turn left or right, and Road test is all nerves

If you got a Pre-Trip sheet, here's some pointers:

-Learn all the parts that's required. First get someone experienced to tell you what all the parts are. Then what I did is I would read one name of and engine part, and pointed to it. Like "Slack Adjuster", then point to it. Do that for EVERY part. And name all the parts from start to finish at least 3 times in one sitting. After that, your memory of the parts would be smooth as butter

-Practice and go over the In Cab Air Brake Test for the Pre Trip, that's the most important part test takers look for

what do you study to get a CDL? same rules of the road as we do as normal drivers? also how do you practice if you don't have a semi truck to put in work?

-I went to school for a month

-Some are the same, but alot are different rules on the road. Like for instance you have to go 5 mph less than the speed limit. Also cops look at you as a "professional driver", so if you're cause speeding, moving violation, in an accident, etc. you're gonna have a harder penalty
Plus there's rules on how long you can drive in one day, how much time you can drive consecutively. And you gotta document every time you're not driving

-For practicing, there's hourly lessons that alot of schools give. Would be like 80 an hr though :ld:

You can go to a community college that has a 1 month CDL program, and you can possibly get a state grant

or you can go through a company, like Swift, Knight, CRST, and it's basically free. But they'll take out the cost of the school in your check after you're hired with them

Some companies will make you sign an agreement for at least one year. They will train you but the first gig you get most likely will be OTR doubles. It's a good time to eat.

Looking for a "B"? Check out a local school district and see who does transportation. First Student will pay for it.

There's oppurtu out there to make 65 g's a year if you have 1 year experience over the road. I'm bout two months in and it's hard being away from my kids and family. I'm in Alabama headed to California, and back in time to go home for Christmas.
Have you considered teams?, make a lot more money.
