It's obvious you never driven a Tractor Trailer before
I'm an engineer, why would I ever drive a tractor trailer?

You know there are Truck Drivers 15+ years in the game that make more than you right?
What is your statement based on? You know how much I make? I'm not sure what the relevance of software engineer or truck drivers salaries are here regardless.
"I'm an Engineer, why would I ever drive a Tractor Trailer" implies that you are looking down at the career. Don't play dumb
Truck Drivers with 15+ years experience can make 120K +
Truck Driver Owner Operators make 300k plus and can go up to a million per year
You make more than that?
Breh, you told me I never drove a truck before. I confirmed that for you. I'm not even sure what the relevance of that statement was to be honest, but I confirmed anyway. I make more than $120K and less than $300K. I'm not sure why that matters though. Truck drivers could make $2 million dollars a year. It wouldn't matter, if anything that would be more of an incentive for businesses to automate the transport of goods and get a cost savings at scale.
Why is the advancement of technology making you emotional? I dapped OP up in here and gave him some pertinent advice as truck driving as a career might not exist anymore in 10-15 years , at which point their salary will be $0

If they ever do have automated trucks, most of the posters on here would be retired and or
They not gonna have automated trucks 10-15 years from now
Of course it exists but if you think you can just put the driver less version on the road so fast in this age of safety regulations then you are misinformed. The technology already exist
One of the links I provided is talking about successful test with trucks already being completed. Never mind the fact that the new 2016 S class can essentially drive itself.
It's like y'all witnessed technological advancements of the last decade and still doubt artificial intelligence.
Machine Learning is THE biggest area of computer science research right now, why y'all in here sounding like my grandma I don't know
