Sounds like a definite at this point. But my problem is...I'm not willing to give up another 1st to move up 2 spots. If the brass feels this draft is deep enough to build both lines Im fine with letting Tua go and building the rest of the roster and wait for the next QB crop next year.

Omar Kelly said even the Bengals are starting to act like they are interested in Tua. Might be a smokescreen as someone mentioned but i told y'all these meda freaks would drive us crazy stressing up with all these rumors between end of the regular season and the end of the draft. I kinda wanna tune all that shyt out and not listen to or read anything regarding this shyt. I'm crumbling under pressure, brehs :sadcam:

Maybe just a 2nd rounder would be enough to move up to 3

It’s a total smokescreen on the Bengals part to convince Miami to trade up and get Tua. It’s exactly like that Philly/Boston situation a few years ago in the NBA where Boston convinced Philly that they were going to take Fultz eventhough they wanted Tatum the entire time.

The only difference is that Cincinnati can’t afford to gamble that Burrows would still be there at #5 as another team could easily jump them.

What’s more likely to happen is that Detroit is going to put out a smokescreen leading to the draft that they are seriously interested in Tua as Stafford’s replacement to swindle Miami or another team to trade up to #3 to get him.

I wouldn’t fall for it, but they likely have to trade up to #3 to ensure that no one else jumps ahead of them.

I'm afraid that San Diego will if we dont. Grier said he will not be outbid. That statement hints at an obsession which im afraid other GNs will use against him

no way im giving up a 1st for 2 spots. Fitzpatrick made All Pro and Tunsil made Pro Bowl, those were expensive ass trades (altho they got a ton for Tunsil)

DET will have partners, tho. SD and CAR right after us :francis:
This SB proves even with the better overall team the one with the best QB wins

Domestic battery charge against Dolphins CB Xavien Howard dismissed
Feb 6, 2020

    Cameron WolfeESPN Staff Writer

DAVIE, Fla. -- Miami Dolphins cornerback Xavien Howard had a domestic battery charge stemming from a December incident with his fiancée dismissed Thursday morning, per his lawyer Michael Grieco.

Howard was arrested by the Davie Police Department on a domestic battery charge Dec. 29, just hours after the Dolphins pulled off a season-ending upset victory over the New England Patriots.

The decision to drop the charges clears Howard of further legal consequences, but the NFL is investigating the matter and Howard could be subject to further discipline from the league based on its personal conduct policy.

Howard's fiancée signed an affidavit of non-prosecution and told prosecutors that she didn't want to proceed with the case and did not fear for her safety going forward, per the Broward County state's attorney's office. Because there were no other witnesses, prosecutors felt they couldn't proceed with the case without testimony from her.

Per the arrest report obtained by ESPN in December, Howard was accused of grabbing his fiancée's arms and pushing her against a mirrored glass wall in the hall of their bedroom, causing her to fall and land on his walking crutch.

An officer said he observed scratches and redness on her right wrist and forearm from Howard grabbing her and an abrasion and redness from the fall.

Howard, 26, was processed at the Davie Police Department, then transported to a hospital when he complained of knee pain from a recent surgery. He was then transferred to Broward County Jail. He paid $3,000 bond.

Police said the altercation stemmed from a recent purchase of a purse. Howard and his fiancée live together and share three children.

The Dolphins placed Howard on injured reserve with a knee injury in October, and he had recently undergone surgery.

Coach Brian Flores addressed the issue in his season-ending news conference on Dec. 30, saying the team takes the allegations against Howard seriously.

"We're still gathering information on that. We take situations like that very, very serious. We're gathering information. It's unfortunate," Flores said. "How does it impact us? It does impact us. Again, we take these things very seriously. We'll gather all information and do what we feel is best for the organization.

Flores said the front office would make a decision once it gets all the information it needs.

Howard made the Pro Bowl in 2018 after tying for the NFL lead in interceptions. He signed a five-year, $75.25 million extension in May

Lots of rumors going around that:
  • Burrow wants no part of the Bengals.
  • Dolphins are warming up to Herbert and could take him over Tua.

NFL draft: Steve Bartkowski tells Joe Burrow to 'pull an Eli Manning'

John Elway did it first. Eli Manning modernized the maneuver. Could Joe Burrow be next?

Both Elway and Manning were selected first overall in their respective drafts without suiting up for the team that selected them. In both cases, they forced trades to more desirable locations. This week, a former No. 1 overall pick advised Burrow — the national champion Heisman winner who is considered by many a lock to go first to the Cincinnatti Bengals in April — to do the same.

"Pull an Eli Manning," Steve Bartkowski advised Burrow and his family Sunday night, per the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, at an event honoring the former LSU quarterback for his Davey O'Brien Award. Bartkowski told the Star-Telegram that he offered the advice he knows "what it’s like to go to a bottom-feeder team" given his experience with the Atlanta Falcons, who selected him No. 1 overall in 1975.

The Bengals are coming off a 1-15 season in coach Zac Taylor's first year. The organization has not won a playoff game since 1991 — going without a postseason berth since the 2015 season. Recently, Carson Palmer said he never felt like the team was trying to win the Super Bowl during his tenure there.

Manning famously refused to play for the then-San Diego Chargers and wound up playing his entire 16-year career for the New York Giants. After the Baltimore Colts drafted him in 1983, Elway said he was going to play baseball, until the Colts traded him to the Denver Broncos.

Burrow, who grew up in Athens, Ohio, has never indicated he wouldn't play for the Bengals. He did, however, tell the Star-Telegram he held "leverage" in this draft scenario.

"I do have leverage," Burrow said. "They have their process and I have my process. We haven’t even gotten to the (NFL) combine yet. There’s a lot of things that happen leading up to the draft and a lot of information gathered."

Dolphins reportedly warming up to Justin Herbert[

Going into last season, the Dolphins being bad enough to earn the first pick, and that pick being Tua Tagovailoa seemed like the most likely scenario.

But between the Dolphins being better than expected, and Tagovailoa suffering a season-ending hip injury, things became more complicated.

Now, the team is forced to cast a wider net at quarterback, and they might like what they’re finding.

According to Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald, citing sources familiar with the team’s thinking, the Dolphins have “an increasingly positive view” of Oregon quarterback Justin Herbert.

This is a reasonable place to be in February, considering the Dolphins are picking fifth, and they may not be able to get to Tagovailoa (if his hip checks out) or Joe Burrow without making a major move up.

The 6-foot-6, 237-pound Herbert has prototypical size and a good arm, and also has shown mobility. He’s also been something less than consistent on the field, though he had a good week at the Senior Bowl.

Again, it’s early, and the Dolphins would be unwise to lock in on any particular player at the moment, since they don’t have the first pick in the draft. And even if they’re not crazy about Herbert, it doesn’t hurt them to make other teams think they do.
