No sd slot sucks. Esp. since it only goes up to 16gb.

For the price it isn't a purchase killer, and I get that they're pushing their cloud services ... but sometimes you can't get to the internet and access the cloud. The amount of songs/movies I keep on my laptop far exceed 8gb, and to charge $50 for 8 gigs is crazy.

Admittedly better than the Kindle Fire that I bought for my mom at the same price, but idk about pulling the trigger on it.

If you really need external storage, you can use an otg cable and usb memory stick. Great to keep extra music on in the car during road trips for when you might lose service intermittently. The cable is like $5. Also lets you use other usb peripherals too.

Admittedly, an sd slot would be preferable, but at least you have the option.

Edit: Just realized you're talking about the tablet, but same thing applies.

8 or 16gb?

8 gigs, am a heavy believer in cloud storage so it really doesn't bother me it doesn't have a sd card, i have 30+ gigs of music in Google music , all my school documents are in drop box, all my photos are in picasa , and if i needed to take a movie or two with me somewhere i would just throw it on Google drive

we finna eat good fellas

early performance reviews

If we compare the Nexus 7 to a top-end Tegra 3 device like the 1.7GHz, 1920 x 1200 Transformer Pad Infinity (set to its 'Performance' mode) the pre-production Nexus 7 more than keeps up
Next, we can throw the Nexus 7 into the ring with a Galaxy Tab 7.7, which represents the family of Samsung devices powered by the last-gen dual-core Exynos processor (also including the Galaxy Note, for example). In this tussle, the Google slate wins by just the type of wide margin that we'd hope for given its quad-core 40nm silicon. In other words, when it comes to raw speed, the Nexus 7 looks like a proper 2012 Android device that can currently only be beaten by expensive flagships running off an Exynos Quad or a Snapdragon S4.
