Breh I use GTalk while in Gmail when I'm on Linux. It's really not that big of a deal.
You're still not making a case for the average user to spend in excess when they could spend LESS and get MORE. Ubuntu, Mint, Fedora, all that is free.
shyt you can get a laptop with better specs, and touchscreen AND cop a SSD on the side and you still would'nt be spending 1299, and you'd still have an open source and very secure system.

Chromebooks are machines, Windows 8 is an OS. 
Any business that does anything with an installed program not named MS Office has no incentive to buy a chromebook over a Macbook or a Windows machine. AT ALL. The price puts it out of reach. It's a essentially a browser and possibly a social device and nothing more. In the future (not so near future) it may be a major player but not now.

That's Marketing 101.
But realistically speaking people who actually DO weigh pros and cons will not buy that Macbook.
- Do I need Final Cut Pro? No
- Do I need any of the other OS X only apps? No
- Am I willing to spending more for perceived value? No
Then they buy a regular Windows laptop with more often than not BETTER specs than the Macbook. And pocket the rest.
This is why Apple has not penetraed the business world yet. Because unless your business is graphics/design/ media you would be WASTING money.
And that's the same reason why they will not cop a $1299 Chromebook. No matter how unified the apps and the system is.
Apple makes money because of the graphics/design/media segment, loyalists, and uniformed consumers who don't know better. And damn near every analyst agrees that's not gonna last for much longer because Apple is not really innovating anymore. So why would you use that as a reason why Google will penetrate the market when that strategy is gonna be useless in the near future.
