I saw The Irishman again the other night and while it's an excellent film it's not on the level of Goodfellas and Casino. But it's still better than most films. That's what we are grading on here the Scorsese curve.. most directors will never have a movie as good as Scorsese's mid

I like Gangs of New York and Shutter Island... different movies... it's hard to compare them to the mafia joints.

But I disagree with you on Goodfellas, what Scorsese did with that film is nothing short of incredible.. considering all the techniques used he used.. are still used today. Scorsese was masterful behind the camera and the actors were masterful in front of it.

im watching Casino again RN... Goodfellas is the better movie but Deniro and Pesci in this
Their performances here are better than their preformances in Goodfellas
How this movie got only one oscar nom is mind numbing

It was definitely just because voters saw it as a rehash of Goodfellas. Looking at 1995 releases and what was nominated and/or won at the Oscars in 1996, there weren't a ton of heavy hitters out there as far as Oscar bait goes.

'Goodfellas' is still the better film and I would say Pesci is definitely better in that film as Tommy but both are modern classics so you can't go wrong.

Goodfellas is one of my all time favorite movies

Casino is excellent too though. Pesci cracks me up
